8 Page Paper: Impact of Urban Planning on the Building Development Process

Help me study for my Engineering class. I’m stuck and don’t understand.

Impact of Urban Planning on the Development Process:

Select an urban environment to “case study”. This should be a city that is either currently undergoing redevelopment or has done so recently (within 5 years).

Collect all necessary documents while researching the planning practices taking place in that community. Once this is completed, select the four most prevalent issues that the plan has identified and hopes to ultimately improve upon.

Develop a strong argument explaining how each of these issues impact traditional building methods and techniques: What challenges will these issues create for the future of development in that area? Develop four solutions to the recognized problems that will arise once the plan is implemented and explain how these solutions will successfully solve the recognized problems.

Paper will follow the guideline below:

1. Select a city to study:

• What is your selected city? Read through the plan and become familiar with the document and area that it will affect.
• What are the most obvious, pressing, and/or interesting topics discussed in that plan (select four)? What are the planners of that area trying to accomplish through the implementation of the newly revised plan?
• What is the reason for the new plan/approach taking place in this area? Are your findings “necessary” to further improve the success of that areas current plan, why or why not?

1. How will the new plan impact future development within the area?

• Research ways in which the four selected topics will have an impact on future development in that area.
• Discover ways that development is currently done in that area, and identify specifically how the implementation of the four previously selected topics will directly affect development processes (specific property laws, rezoning, construction, etc.).

1. What can be done to prevent new planning ideas from hurting future development?

• Use specific examples to show the magnitude that these impacts can have on development.
• Offer creative ways that builders/developers can combat these changes with possible solutions.

1. Discover relevant examples in which this has already taken place:

• What are the solution that were created?
• Were these examples success, if not why?
• How can these previous examples impact the future of planning and development and how the two relate/coexist?
• Can these examples be directly related to your case study, how?

1. Conclusion wrapping up previously discussed arguments.

Paper should be 8 pages in length. Times new roman, 11 pt font, 1.15 spacing.
