Instructions: Assume you are a general manager of a hospitality operation (hotel, restaurant, golf course, cruise ship, event planning company, etc–you’re picked). Your assistant manager has just given you his/her 2-week notice. The operation has been very busy lately and you need to fill this position as quickly as possible. However, it is very important to ensure you recruit and hire the best person for the job. Create a hiring plan that includes the following information: What steps do you need to take to ensure you are efficient and effective in your search process? What internal and external recruitment sources will you use to find the best person for the job? What are some pros and cons of internal vs. external recruitment? What knowledge, skills, abilities and behaviors are you looking for in an assistant manager? What questions will you ask the applicants in their interviews (list at least 3 useful questions)?
