[ORDER SOLUTION] American Nativism

In 5-6 paragraphs, answer the following question. Build your argument using evidence and illustrations from your readings and lecture notes. Throughout the second half of our class, we have looked at several forms of American nativism–the belief that American-born individuals should be protected from and prioritized above the interests of immigrants. What factor best explains American nativism: religious differences, economic concerns, political ideology, or ethnicity / race? Pick the factor you think has been most determinative in driving nativism. Your answer should briefly explain the role of all four factors in contributing to nativism, then make your case for why the factor you’ve chosen is the most influential. A good essay will explain where this attitude comes from, how it has shaped American approaches to immigration and citizenship, and its legacy in our national history.
