General instruction: 1.Please participate in this discussion by: 1) posting one response that addresses ALL the discussion questions provided below with a minimum of 350 words; and 2) responding to at least one post by another student with a minimum of 50 words. 2.Complete this discussion by 11:59 pm on September 22 (Tuesday). Once the deadline passes, I will NOT re-open this discussion for ANY reason. 3.Watch a documentary movie at Youtube “Don’t Pannic” before you respond to the discussion questions: Discussion questions: should we worry about overpopulation? 1.How would you define overpopulation? 2.To what extent, fast population growth is a concern? 3.To what extent, fast population growth is not a concern? 4.What are the best ways to accommodate more population in this world while keep increasing their living standards, given the limited amount of natural resources we have? Tips for this discussion: 1.The overpopulation discussion initially focuses on food production/supply (e.g. the Malthus theory). Your discussion, however, should go beyond food and include other issues, such as environmental population, natural resource conservation and preservation (e.g. water), and sustainability. 2.Your discussion may consider the differences between developed countries and developing countries. Keep in mind that virtually almost all population growth is in the developing world and economic growth is likely to be faster in less developed countries.
