Bioarcheology of Mummies
Students are asked to write and submit on Canvas a 400-600 word reflection paper based on one of the two videos assigned on October 23rd. Students have from November 2 – November 6 to submit their paper. This course aims to provide students a broad understanding of mummies studies and the implications of studying the dead. Students will be asked to submit three reflection papers based on one video from a list provided by the instructor highlighting current debates and/or recent discoveries in mummies studies.Videos may cover topics such as new discoveries of mummies, application of scientific methods to the study of mummies, and current ethical debates, to name a few. The reflection paper is not a summary of the video, but a coherent and well-organized paper defending a position on the topic and referencing some of the ideas and concepts that were introduced during class. This exercise is NOT a critique of the video. The video is used to help you frame your own position on the subject the video treats. You may agree or disagree with the premise of the video; but you should stake out a position on the topic and should draw on class materials that covered the topic to inform and support the position you will be arguing.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NGU1PGVko64&ab_channel=MAVERIKDEVA (this is the video)
