Inflammation is a key component in wound healing. Yet, as an involuntary process, why are some wounds slow to heal? A variety of circumstances can impede the progress of healing. In fact, length of healing time depends on the depth and scope of the wound, the area affected, and the environment. The health, immune function, mindset, and perceived stress level of the individual also influence the rate of healing. How might stress management techniques such as relaxation influence wound healing? What kind of experimental designs might be used related to stress management and wound healing?

For this Assignment, review this week’s Learning Resources. Consider influences of inflammation and stress on wound healing. Then, search the Walden Library for articles that discuss examples of experimental designs that might be appropriate for examining the effects of stress management techniques on wound healing. Finally, reflect on how you might design an experiment to examine the effects of stress management or relaxation on wound healing.
