Organizational Culture Assessment
Culture can seem a bit subjective and “squishy” topic to discuss in any objective way. Fortunately, there are some good models and assessment instrument to help us discuss culture in tangible and practical ways, and to describe it in more explicit and objective ways. The Organizational Culture Assessment Instrument (OCAI) is one such assessment instrument, and is based on Cameron & Quinn’s competing values framework, discussed in this weeks lecture (43:25). You can take a brief assessment that allows you to see you own perception of values. Take this assessment here. http://www.ocai-online.com/ (Links to an external site.) Once you are done, discuss the following: Briefly share your scores, and discuss: Is there a congruence or a dis-connect between where things are in your organization, and where you would like them to be according to this assessment? Do you think this view is pervasive for many others in the organization? If a disconnect, what are some practical strategies you can do to help bring alignment? Support your ideas and answers with relevant theory, including Cameron & Quinn’s Competing Values Framework (from video lecture and articles below). Respond to at least one other students.
