PSYCH 3210 Assignment: Group presentation
Child Psychopathology Group Case Presentations
You will each be assigned to a group with approximately three to four other students. Each group will receive a case description of a child or adolescent patient presenting with mental health symptoms. Using the guidelines and questions below, you will meet as a group to discuss and conceptualize the case. Each group will then present their case to the rest of the class. The presentation should last 15 minutes and should be divided among the members of your group. Each member of your group will receive the same grade. Case presentations will occur throughout the course of the semester.
You will receive your group assignment, your case description, as well as the date on which you will be presenting via ECLearn Groups.
Please address the following in your presentation:
Presenting problem (including basic demographics, presenting problem(s) and current symptoms).
History of the problem (including onset of symptoms, precipitant(s) of symptoms, and course of the disorder).
Current life situation (relevant family, school, socioeconomic, and/or cultural issues, and current stressors).
Make sure to explain and support your decision with evidence from the case.
Diagnostic conceptualization (that is, why now, and what factors contributed to the development of the disorder?).
Differential diagnosis (other diagnoses that you were/are considering) and/or comorbid diagnosis.
Treatment recommendations, based on class discussions and your readings. Make sure you justify your treatment recommendations.
Prognosis (expected outcome with and without treatment) and why.
