Socialization
As humans, we become aware of ourselves as belonging to a group and we learn how to behave through the process of socialization. In addition to reading Chapter 4 of the text, you will also read Introduction to Sociology: 06 Socialization. After reading the required resources, describe the various agents of socialization and why they are important. Do socializing agents contribute to an institutionalized system of social inequality? Why or why not?
In your post, be sure to discuss how an individuals race, class, and gender can influence the way that he or she is socialized. Support your answer with detailed examples.

A connection to family provides a certain type of social support that you cant get from other people. Provided they arent severely emotionally toxic, we can generally depend on our families in times of crisis for emotional and practical support, and sometimes even financial support when were desperately in need. Most of the time, the family is a constant in our lives, and a welcome one when there are so many people who are content to drift in and out when circumstances change.
Our families carry our history with them, and they generally share our future as well. Who better than siblings, parents, and other close relatives can reminisce with us about our childhoods, or remember pieces of ourselves weve forgotten? This connection to fond memories, support in times of need and near- is a unique way that family brings us happiness as well as relief from stress.
