Stacy Brown-Philpot Reflection
podcase tracks the career of Stacy Brown-Philpot from her early years as a “young businesswoman” in her community, through her tenure at Google and ultimately her position at TaskRabbit. Focus on Podcase A for this reflection (Podcase B and C will be discussed separately). Consider the following: What factors from Stacy’s early experiences might have contributed to her success? How did the generosity of customers on her paper route affect her concept of community? Why did Stacy respond as she first did when asked to go to India? How might you react? What did she learn while in India that enabled her to succeed? What are three life experiences that have affected YOUR personal, career, and educational choices to date? Think about the future and write where (i.e. in what professional roles and situations) and how YOUR most important personal, professional/career and educational decisions might occur. At the end of Podcase A, Stacy says, “Try to identify ways to give folks a sense of meaning and purpose inside of the company. There’s always a business need.” Is she correct?
