Distillation is a process

I’m studying for my Engineering class and need an explanation.

Distillation is a process in which a liquid or vapor mixture of two or more substances is separated into its component fractions of desired purity, by the application and removal of heat. Performance and efficiency of heat exchangers coupled with distillation columns contribute to the overall purity of the cut ??products.

I. Explain about the physical phenomena would you need to consider for simulation and design of an accurate distillation model?

II. Which reasonable simplifying assumptions would you make to reduce the complexity of your

model?

III. Explain briefly about all possible control mechanisms that should be considered for a high-

accuracy simulation model of a shell and tube heat exchanger.
