For this Written Response Assessment, you will respond to three parts. For the first part, you will compare and contrast the APA Ethics Code with the Academy of Management, Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM), and Board Certified Coach (BCC) ethics codes. For the second part, you will examine how morals, values, judgement, and situational factors influence ethical decision making in I/O psychology. You will also identify steps to develop your ethical competence, both in terms of identifying ethical dilemmas and resolving ethical dilemmas using the APA Ethics Code. For the third part, you will consider how to respond to unethical and illegal behavior in your role as an I/O psychology practitioner, using the APA Ethics Code and other relevant resources as guides.

Your written response to all three parts should total a minimum of 10–13 pages. Be sure to support your writing with references to scholarly sources. Your written response must follow APA format.

Part 1

Ethical Codes of Conduct (minimum 3–4 pages)

Identify four ethical standards from the APA Ethics Code that apply to the practice of I/O psychology.

Compare and contrast the APA Ethics Code with the Academy of Management, SHRM, and BCC ethics codes.

Evaluate the gaps in the APA Ethics Code in relation to the practice of I/O psychology. Explain how you would use aspects of the Academy of Management, SHRM, and BCC ethics codes to address those gaps

Part 2

Ethical Dilemmas and The Roles of Individual and Situational Factors in Ethical Decision Making (minimum 5–7 pages)

Briefly describe an ethical dilemma that could occur when practicing I/O psychology. Identify the ethical standards from the APA Ethics Code that apply to the dilemma and explain why.

Explain how your personal morals, values, and judgement might influence your decision to resolve the ethical dilemma. Provide specific examples to support your explanation.

Explain how at least two situational factors might influence your decision to resolve the dilemma.

Self-assess your ethical competence in the context of I/O psychology, that is, your ability to recognize and resolve ethical dilemmas using the APA Ethics Code. Then, describe three ethical skills and/or knowledge areas in which you need further development. Explain what steps you will take to develop those skills or area, including specific resources you would use and/or professional development opportunities you would pursue.

Part 3

Ethics and Professional Behavior (minimum 2 pages)

Describe a specific scenario in which you may have to confront or report unethical and/or illegal behavior in your role as an I/O psychology practitioner. How would specific APA ethical standards guide your response to the unethical and/or illegal behavior? What additional professional strategies would you use to confront or report the unethical and/or illegal behavior?
