Spiritual Autobiography

Spiritual Autobiography: 5 pages minimum. Include 10 cited references and at least 5 scholarly resources ie bible, catechism, spiritual writers, etc. The Spiritual/Religious Autobiography is an opportunity for you to reflect upon your personal spirituality and religious tradition or lack thereof. This autobiography is an opportunity for you to articulate your personal experiences and therefore to better engage what you will be learning about the Christian faith in this course.   Such an autobiography may consist of a narrative of: 1. one’s acceptance of his or her family’s or culture’s religious tradition; 2. conversion to a religious tradition; 3. having been raised in a certain tradition but not necessarily believing or practicing in the tradition; 4. not having or had any religious faith.   In any of these four scenarios (and possible others or combinations thereof), there exists one’s personal autobiography. It may be central to one’s life or on the periphery—nevertheless such a narrative exists.   Your assignment is to chronologically trace, as best you can, what you remember of your religious/spiritual experiences (positive or negative) to the present. You may include the following: facts about your place of origin (culture/nation) and how they may have influenced your religious views, family, books you have read, conversations with people, personal encounters with the sacred, rituals that you have experienced (weddings, funerals, initiation rites, meals, celebrations, etc.).   This is not to be a dry recounting of facts but a reflective interpretation of these experiences. In other words, you are to offer a comment on these various facts as you now understand them. For example, Are these memories and beliefs important for your life now, for your future – how?   Your presentation or paper will consist of: ·       The basic Presentation (approximately 20 slides) or Paper Format requirements above/1500 words or approx. Five pages ·       An introduction that explains what this presentation or paper is about ·       A central section that will chronologically recount your various experiences ·       A conclusion that will offer a personal comment on your experiences ·       Please consult Scriptures and other spiritual Writers in the development of your paper. These references can be in support of your experience or used to demonstrate another type of experience.(Minimum of 10 references).   The presentation follows the outline of student presentation with adding 10 references or The paper is to be typed with 1” margins all sides; double-spaced in 12 point font. Please be sure to include Footnotes or Endnotes. Please use MLA or Turabian format style. A works cited page is expected to include a minimum of 5 scholarly sources well beyond the scope of Wikipedia and a minimum of 10 references are to be cited within the paper.
