Context:  Sociology, along with anthropology, psychology, economics, history, and political science, is a social science. Sociologists study the influence that society has on people’s attitudes and behavior and the ways in which people interact and shape society. Sociology is extremely broad in scope and encompasses a number of substantive topics ranging from aging and the life course to crime, education, health, religion, and sexuality. Unlike common sense, sociological data is empirical, meaning that sociologists rely on scientific studies in order to describe and understand a social environment. Common sense, on the other hand, is based on conventional wisdom, which as we know is often inaccurate and unreliable. Authentic Assessment—Applied Research Assignment:   TASK:  Describe how using the Internet could strengthen or weaken the integrative function of education within a society. What elements of socialization may be missing?
