Anthropology Questions.

I need help with a Writing question. All explanations and answers will be used to help me learn.

Respond to at least 2 different students’ responses to this assignment

1. What does the word, “culture” mean to you? Do you think we are born with culture or we learn it? Explain your answer

2. Do you believe there are general differences between human females and males? Provide some examples if you do think so. What do you account for differences?

If you do not think there are differences, explain your answer.

3. Do you think we should be able to judge other cultures or cultural practices? For example, can we determine that some of our cultural practices are “better” than a different culture’s practices or traditions? Explain your answer.

4. Do you think humans have free will? If you do, explain how it is that we humans have it and provide an example of you exercising your free will.

1. List at least 3 claims made by Jayke. What evidence does he use to support his claims (if any). Make sure you know and understand the concept of a “claim” and “evidence.”

2. Tell me two questions that the interviewer asked Jayke that reflected a good sense of skeptical and critical thinking. Explain how they achieved in revealing how Jayke thought about the Crystals and his belief system. Make sure you know the definitions of skeptical and critical thinking.

3. Imagine you do not believe in what Jayke believes about the crystals. I would argue that you cannot state with certainty that his beliefs are incorrect. Why do you think this is? (Hint: what would you have to do once you state that he is wrong?).

4. Imagine that Jayke believes in “spiritual energy.” Imagine that you do as well. I would argue that it is erroneous to believe Jayke is correct solely based on that fact that you also believe in “spiritual energy.” Why do you think this is? (Hint: If you and I were independently given a task of determining how many students in the class were rich, why is there a good chance that we would come up with different answers?).
