Australian Housing System

What needs to change to make the Australian housing system better or fairer? This report is your opportunity to argue for a better housing system in Australia. If it was up to you, what would change? In this report you need to make a case for the changes that you would like to see. Task Choose an Australian housing policy challenge or problem and write a report that identifies – The key players and interests at stake in the issue  – The social, political, economic and environmental (as relevant) implications of the issue – Alternative policy responses/ approaches  Your report should advocate for a relevant, appropriate policy approach to the housing policy challenge that is based in a critical reading of the related scholarly and grey literatures.  Housing policy challenges: You can choose a challenge from the following list; – Housing affordability  – Tenancy policy  This is a list of ’umbrella’ issues. You will need to identify exactly what aspect of the housing challenge you believe should be changed. For example, what aspect of tenancy policy needs to change? OR What needs to happen in homelessness policy and approaches? OR What focus will you bring to housing affordability? – the need for planning changes, tax changes, the importance of social and affordable housing?
