The purpose of the project is practice writing a genetics report and educating classmates on evidenced based research related to genetic disorders. The genetic disorders that can be selected are:
Autism Breast cancer Crohn’s Disease Cystic fibrosis Down Syndrome Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy Factor V Leiden Thrombophilia Hemophilia Huntington’s disease Klinefelter syndrome Marfan syndrome Osteogenesis Imperfecta Parkinson’s disease Sickle cell disease Tay-Sachs Thalassemia Turner Syndrome The genetic report must include the following sections:
-Abstract – Introduction -Results -Case Studies – Discussion – References The following linksThe following links includes a sample report for students to review to understand formatting, content, etc.: The report must be typed with 1- margins, double spacing and a 12 point Times New Roman font.
The paper should also include a reference list. A minimum of five references must be utilized and no reference should be older than five years. The American Psychological Association format must also be utilized for the paper. The paper should be between ten and fifteen pages in length (not including cover page, abstract, references, exhibits, etc.).
The genetic report represents 15% of a student’s overall course grade. The genetic report must be submitted through Canvas in order for the report to be uploaded to Urkand®; Urkund® is an automatic text-recognition system made for detecting, preventing and handling plagiarism.
