Abstract Art

Watch The Video titled Brice Marden: Abstract painting can take you to paradise ). Then watch Sarah Cain – The Artist’s Studio(http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LqqUJnDeX_w). Write a short entry (250 words) in response. What did you find interesting about their two different approaches to abstraction? Did you notice the similarities between Brice Marden’s garden and his paintings? When Brice was a young man he worked as a studio assistant for Robert Rauschenberg. How do you think this might have influenced his development as an artist? Notice how Sarah Cain refers to getting “in the zone”. Does this remind you of Jackson Pollock’s statement about “the painting taking on a life of it’s own?” Why not do a bit of research about each artist and write about what you’ve learned? No source is needed.
