Effective researchers in the field of special education are acutely aware of the challenges inherent in their investigations. Working with children with exceptionalities brings particularly important responsibilities. These responsibilities include careful attention to the treatment of subjects, validity, and the use of results. Furthermore, theories must be studied using a robust measurement of appropriate variables and a respective statistical analysis.

Hi Yahima, thank you for your post.  I make it a goal to learn something new each session and this was my opportunity.  Although I’ve heard about Force Field Analysis (FFA) I really didn’t know much about it in terms of a change model.  I thought it was more of a way to decide whether or not change was appropriate.  Although not the best way to learn, YouTube is can provide some good overviews of certain things.  So I went to YouTube and spent some time learning about FFA.  I learned that it was originally developed by Kurt Lewin, the same person whose Unfreeze-Change-Refreeze change model came from.  Using FFA in relation to the project you’ve developed for our Chamberlain ER, what would be 2-3 driving forces for the change and then 2-3 restraining forces.  Being a hypothetical scenario, you may have to speculate and imagine, but see what you can come up with. Nurses as Change Agents in the Community The discussion assignment provides a forum for discussing relevant topics for this week on the basis of the course competencies covered. In the chapter, “How Community-Based Organizations Are Addressing Nursing’s Role in Transforming Health Care,” the authors describe the community as the focus of advocacy action for change. They list a series of questions that help community teams develop organizing principles to guide their interventions, and the aim is to attack social determinants of health to make community change. Suppose a community team identifies lack of access to exercise modalities as a public health issue. If the team were to determine that pedestrian walkways need to be constructed, discuss at least two factors that would facilitate the development of the walkways and two that would hinder the development. (You may opt to keep various elements of this anonymous, such as your company name.) Describe the current problem or opportunity for change. Include in this description the circumstances surrounding the need for change, the scope of the issue, the stakeholders involved, and the risks associated with change implementation in general. Propose an evidence-based idea for a change in practice using an EBP approach to decision making. Note that you may find further research needs to be conducted if sufficient evidence is not discovered. Describe your plan for knowledge transfer of this change, including knowledge creation, dissemination, and organizational adoption and implementation. Describe the measurable outcomes you hope to achieve with the implementation of this evidence-based change. Be sure to provide APA citations of the supporting evidence-based peer reviewed articles you selected to support your thinking. Add a lessons learned section that includes the following: A summary of the critical appraisal of the peer-reviewed articles you previously submitted An explanation about what you learned from completing the Evaluation Table within the Critical Appraisal Tool Worksheet Template (1-3 slides)
