Critique of a Research Study
Read the full texts of the study you selected in Week One and the sources you included in your Week Two bibliography. Evaluate the usefulness of each source and write a critique of the study from Week One, using the textbook and relevant articles from the Week Two assignment to support your analysis of the study. Use the following section headings and content in your paper.
Introduction
State the purpose of the paper. Clearly identify the study being critiqued, by title and authors. Summarize the research question, hypothesis (if a quantitative study), and background information on the topic from the study’s literature review. Did the authors present a well-balanced summary of current knowledge about the topic? Is there any apparent bias in the literature review?
Methods
Differentiate the research design (experimental or non-experimental) and approach (qualitative or quantitative), sampling method, and data collection methods. Indicate the sample size, variables and measures (if a quantitative study), statistical tests (if a quantitative study), coding and analysis procedures (if a qualitative study), and any assumptions made by the researchers. Were the procedures chosen appropriate for the study? What alternative methods would you suggest?
Ethical Aspects
Analyze ethical issues pertaining to this study. Did the researchers explicitly address ethical issues in the article? If not, was there evidence in the report that the participants’ safety and confidentiality were protected? Was an approval process by an Institutional Review Board or similar ethics review committee mentioned? Were any of the practices ethically questionable (deception, coercion, etc.)?
Results
Present a summary of the results of the analysis performed in the study. Did the authors keep their interpretations and conclusions separate from the analysis results (evidence)?
Discussion and Conclusion
Analyze and critique the conclusions drawn by the researchers. Do the conclusions follow logically from the results of the analysis? Evaluate the overall efficacy of the research study by identifying the strengths and weaknesses of aspects of its design and implementation. Identify the limitations noted by the researchers and add any limitations you see that were not mentioned in the article. Describe the directions for future research proposed by the authors and evaluate their appropriateness. Recommend at least one idea for a future study that will overcome some of the limitations of this study. Keep in mind that this suggested future study will serve as the basis for your Final Paper.
Your paper should be four to six pages in length (excluding title and reference pages) and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. Utilize a minimum of five peer-reviewed sources that were published within the last 10 years and are documented in APA style, as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center. These sources should include the article being critiqued and three of the sources from your Week Two assignment, as well as the course textbook. If at least three of the articles from the Week Two assignment are not useful in evaluating the study being critiqued or for suggesting alternative methods for studying the topic, search the Ashford Library for other suitable peer-reviewed sources

Diversity Training Manual: Part IV
As the new manager of human resources, you are preparing the next section of the diversity training manual, which focuses on making supervisors more aware and sensitive to religious discrimination issues.
This section of the training manual should include the following information:
Give an explanation of the Civil Rights Act, Title VII 1964 legislation, dealing specifically with the meaning of reasonable accommodation for religious practices.
Click here to read the Civil Rights, Title VII 1964 legislation.
For each of the 3 religious groups listed, describe and explain the following:
Include at least 2 religious practices that could easily be accommodated by management without any hardship for the company.
Include at least 2 practices that would be difficult to accommodate.
The 3 religious groups you will be examining are as follows:
Orthodox Jewish
Hindu
The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints
Part V:As the human resources manager, you are now ready to complete your diversity training manual to be used for training and sensitizing your employees on diversity issues. This final section will cover actual legislation. You would like your employees to not only be aware of issues dealing with discrimination that may not be addressed in legislation (the moral component) but to be knowledgeable of the seriousness of the discriminatory practices that have been made into law.
Affirmative Action is one of the most contentious issues; its intent and the discriminatory result of applying it in practice has become a major issue in today’s workforce.
Using this Web site (or any others you find), write a paper of 4-6 pages that will summarize the following points and become part of the training manual:
What is Affirmative Action?
What was the initial intent of Affirmative-Action legislation?
What did the landmark Bakke v. Regents case conclude? Click here to read the case.
What was the basis for the conclusion?
What are the positive and negative results of Affirmative Action legislation?
In your evaluation, is Affirmative Action legislation is still appropriate?

Submitting your assignment in APA format means, at a minimum, you will need the following:
TITLE PAGE. Remember the Running head: AND TITLE IN ALL CAPITALS
ABSTRACT. A summary of your paper…not an introduction. Begin writing in third person voice.
BODY. The body of your paper begins on the page following the title page and abstract page and must be double-spaced (be careful not to triple- or quadruple-space between paragraphs). The type face should be 12-pt. Times Roman or 12-pt. Courier in regular black type. Do not use color, bold type, or italics except as required for APA level headings and references. The deliverable length of the body of your paper for this assignment is 4-6 pages. In-body academic citations to support your decisions and analysis are required. A variety of academic sources is encouraged.
REFERENCE PAGE. References that align with your in-body academic sources are listed on the final page of your paper. The references must be in APA format using appropriate spacing, hang indention, italics, and upper and lower case usage as appropriate for the type of resource used. Remember, the Reference Page is not a bibliography but a further listing of the abbreviated in-body citations used in the paper. Every referenced item must have a corresponding in-body citation.

Final Paper Proposal and Outline

Final Paper Proposal and Outline
To prepare for your Final Paper, review the Final Paper instructions attached below. The paper must be formatted according to APA style and include a title and a reference page.
There are two parts to this assignment: a proposal and an outline. See the instructions below for details on what those parts should include:
Part 1 – Proposal
The proposal should be on a separate page from the outline, and it should consist of one or two paragraphs that describe the society selected for your paper. This society must be a nation other than the United States that has large ethnic groups within it. In the proposal, you must explain why you believe this is an appropriate society for your Final Paper.
Part 2 – Outline
Using the sample below as a guide, provide an outline for your Final Paper. The outline should be in basic APA outline format.
Select a particular country and analyze the ethnic stratification within that society. For this paper, you must focus on ethnic stratification and conflict, including evidence of prejudice and discrimination. In addition to a description of the selected society and its ethnic groups, your paper should include an analysis of similarities and differences the society’s ethnic stratification system as compared to the United States.
You may select one of the countries on the CIA World Factbook website for comparison to the United States in terms of the ethnic stratification system.
The following information should be included in your outline:
Title
Describe the selected country’s society, focusing on ethnic groups, stratification, and conflict.
Provide examples of the ethnic problems in that society, including evidence of prejudice and discrimination.
Discuss what the experts say about ethnic problems (or ethnic harmony) in the selected country’s society.
Compare the selected country’s society to society in the United States. Evaluate similarities and differences related to ethnic groups, stratification, and conflict, using specific examples gathered in your research.
Conclude with reflections and thoughts about ethnic groups and the societies in which we live.
References
Provide at least five of the seven sources that you plan to include in the Final Paper.
While the following example can be modified to suit your needs, this outline is likely to result in a high quality Final Paper.
