I need an explanation for this Nursing question to help me study.

1.Discuss the differences between a leader and a manager.

2. Which is more important, working for an effective leader or an effective manager? Explain your answer.

3. Observe the nurse manager in a unit to which students have been assigned. What management style is displayed? How does the staff respond to this style

4. What qualities do you think are most important to be a good nurse manager?

1. Interview the nurse manager on your assignment unit. What interpersonal, decisional, and informational activities does he or she complete on a daily basis?

2. You are the nurse manager on your unit. One of the most experienced staffers has been out on sick leave, and another just had a baby. The rest of the staff are working very hard to pick up the slack to avoid using agency personnel. What tangible and intangible rewards might you use to thank the staff?

3. PART 1: Begin by writing a 50-word description of the ideal nurse manger, someone you would like to work for. Describe a real-life nurse manager whom you have encountered in one of your clinical rotations. What qualities of this person meet your ideal? In what ways does this individual not meet your ideal? (Reminder: nobody’s perfect.)

PART 2: Think about becoming an ideal manager yourself. What qualities of an ideal manager do you already possess? What qualities do you still need to develop? How will you accomplish this?

1. Find your own state’s requirements for informed consent. Do elective procedures and emergency situations use the same standard?

2. Obtain a copy of your state’s Nurse Practice Act. Does the act give adequate guidance for nurses to know if an action is within the scope of nursing practice?

1. Explain how the Nurse Practice Act in your state provides for consumer protection and for professional nursing progress.

2. What are your thoughts on multistate licensure? How does it strengthen and weaken professional nursing?

3. As a new nurse, how can you ensure confidentiality in clinical settings?

4. How can nurses safeguard the confidentiality of medical information when sending it by fax or e-mail?

5. Explain the role of the nurse in obtaining informed consent. Do you believe that this is within the scope of nursing practice? Explain your answer.

6. Should nurses carry malpractice insurance? Explain your answer.

7. Should all patients have advance directives? Explain your answer.

8. Should employers be permitted to require nurses to work overtime if there is a shortage of registered nursing staff on a unit? Support your answer with evidence from the literature.

Discussion Thread: 5.1 What role should UN Resolutions play in “Legalizing” the use of force in war?

Q1:What role do you think UN Resolutions should play in “Legalizing” the use of force by a member state in war? Should a UN Security Council Resolution that specifically authorizes “the use of any and all means necessary to restore peace” be required before a member state can go to war to respond to a threat?

Q2:Some liberalist scholars argue that nation states should always come to the UN Security Council to present their case for the use of force, before they go to war. After all, it is the UN’s purpose to resolve conflicts by peaceful means short of war.

Q3:Realist scholars, on the other hand, argue just as strongly that states have a right to use force in self-defense, to protect its citizens, to protect its sovereignty, and in a half dozen other circumstances fully recognized in “Just War Doctrine” and international legal precedents. The UN Charter recognizes this right as well.

Q4:The most recent case in which the passage of a UN Resolution became a controversial diplomatic stumbling block was UNSC Resolution 1441 in December 2002 against Iraq. The US requested a “use any means necessary” resolution against Iraq who was refusing UN WMD inspectors access. When the French vetoed the original resolution, the language was changed to read “serious consequences” before it was passed.

Q5:Critics of the US invasion of Iraq have since staunchly argued that that conflict was “illegal,” since the UN never specifically approved language sanctioning the use of force, even though Iraq had violated 12 previous UN resolutions along the way. Those who supported the war argued that the threat of the use of WMD by Iraq was real, the US Congressional Resolution authorized the President to use force with or without UN approval, so the use of force was justified as self-defense. Other critics argue that UN resolutions are really just the big powers’ tool to legitimize their use of force against the little states and the means (with a veto) to prevent the little states from getting to use force.

Q6:So, who is right in your opinion? Is UN approval in the form of a resolution required to use force? Should a UN SC resolution be a required stop along the Road to War? In what cases do you think would it NOT be required. Justify your answers using examples.

Two peer replies

I’m working on a Mathematics question and need guidance to help me study.

Instructions: Responses should be a minimum of 80 words and may include direct questions. In your peer posts, consider the summary statistics of your classmates’ data sets. After the supercar was added to the data set, which summary statistic do you think more accurately reflects the typical vehicle price – the mean or median? Compare the standard deviation before the supercar was added and after it was added. Does this indicate greater variability in the original or modified data set? Based on this information, do you feel the standard deviation can help you identify the presence of an outlier? Why or why not? In your responses, refer to the specific data from your classmates’ posts.

Peer 1 (Perez):

Class,

The list below displays the descriptive data for the mean, median, and standard deviation for the 10 cars that were listed. The information gives you the mean, median, and the standard deviation. I look at this information and I take it that the average cost should be close to that amount, the median is close to the same amount while the standard deviation displays the numbers closer than the other standard deviation that included a $4,800,000 car.

Mean: $30,254.60

Median: $30,031.5

Standard Deviation: $16,014.86

I do not know much about exotic cars but this one came up as one of the most expensive this year. I added an additional car Koenigsegg CCXR Trevita that cost $4,800,000 to the list. The car was one of the most expensive cars on the list. The mean and standard deviation were the summary statistics that were affected the most. The mean had increased by $433,613.22 and the standard deviation increased by $1,422,197.74. The exotic car throws all the numbers off which is an example of an outlier. The outlier cost is way more than all the other vehicles and throws the chart off. The standard deviation were much closer together until this most expensive car was added which sometimes could be an error in some cases.

Mean: $463,867.82

Median: $30,068

Standard Deviation: $1,438,212.60

Peer 2 (Rashad):

Good evening, I hope everyone that is reading this is reading it in the best of health.

Mean: 51044.4

Median: 54806

Standard Deviation: 22995.94201

This Mean, Median and Standard Deviation above is for the 10 vehicles that we had to do for week 1. The difference between mean and median is -3,761.6. This information tells me that the median is more than the mean. The two most expensive vehicles are the 2020 Lexus GS-F ($80,477) and 2020 Lincoln Navigator ($79,543).

Mean: 210040.3636

Median: 60087

Standard Deviation: 527781.0275

The list above is Car Price 2 I added an 11th vehicle (Bugatti Veyron $1.8 million dollars) to the list and there was big difference. I did not guess it would have made that must of a difference. The difference between mean and median was 149,953.36. The two most expensive vehicles are the 2020 Lexus GS-F ($80,477) and 2020 Bugatti Veyron ($1.8 million).

Mission Statement

Help me study for my Writing class. I’m stuck and don’t understand.

Most of us are aware of the term purpose statement but are unsure of its real meaning within the business context. A purpose statement is a statement describing the organization’s or department’s purpose or the reason for its existence. It should accurately answer the questions below.

  1. Who are we?
  2. What do we do?
  3. For whom do we do this?
  4. How do we know when we are getting it done?

The purpose statement is the written summary of those answers. The most effective purpose statements are short, concise, and direct. A good purpose statement is between 2-3 sentences. See the steps below.

Step 1) Answer the four questions above about your interviewee’s Human Resource Department in an itemized format. In other words, include each question and your answer under it.

Step 2) Based on your answers to the four questions, draft a 2-3 sentence purpose statement for the HR Department.

Step 3) Submit your HR Department Purpose Statement for review by the deadline.

Additional requirements:

  • This assignment is not a traditional APA-styled paper. Therefore, an introduction and conclusion are not required for this assignment.
  • Use one-inch margins, size 12 font, double-spaced line spacing, and page numbers.
  • Use Microsoft Word format to submit your document.

Note that the Portfolio Milestones for Weeks 2, 4, and 5 must be completed by the end of the week that they have been assigned to receive credit. The late policy does not apply to project milestones. Failure to deliver these required portfolio-related assignments by the end of the week they are assigned will result in a 0. Please plan accordingly and stay on schedule with these and all course requirements.

An Introduction to Self-Leadership – Discussion Question (Based on the first Rocky movie (1976))

I’m trying to study for my Writing course and I need some help to understand this question.

Your post should be no less than two page (as measured by Microsoft Word, Times New Roman 12 point font.) You must answer all questions. When submitting a word doc you must provide a proper heading including your name, date, course title (LHRD 2723), and assignment.

THIS IS A GRADED ACTIVITY

You will be graded on the following criteria:

  • Proper page heading including your name, date, course title (LHRD 2723), and assignment.
  • Proper use of sentence structure, grammar and punctuation
  • Accuracy of the answer provided
  • Page count requirement

1976 Film Rocky

Three scenes from the film Rocky work very well to provide an overview of the entire self-leadership process and why it is important. Rocky tells the story of an unknown amateur boxer who is given an opportunity to fight for the World Heavyweight Championship. The first scene begins (at approximately 54 minutes into the movie) with Rocky (Sylvester Stallone) entering Mr. Jergens’s office and presenting his card. Mr. Jergens explains that he is offering Rocky the opportunity to fight Apollo Creed for the championship. The second scene begins (at approximately 1 hour, 10 minutes) with Rocky’s alarm clock ringing at 4:00 a.m. and Rocky dragging himself out of bed to go for a training run. The scene ends with a discouraged and clearly out-of-shape Rocky panting for breath at the top of the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. The final scene—one of the iconic scenes in the movie—begins (at approximately 1 hour, 30 minutes) with the familiar theme “Gonna Fly Now” and shows Rocky engaging in various forms of training in preparation for the fight. The scene ends with Rocky, now fit and in excellent condition, sprinting triumphantly to the top of the museum steps.

Discussion Questions

  1. Does Rocky appear capable of reaching his goal of becoming heavyweight champion after the second scene?
  2. Specifically, what does Rocky have to do in order to reach his goal?
  3. How does Rocky motivate himself toward accomplishing his goal?
  4. Who provides the influence or leadership to move Rocky toward achieving his goal?
  5. Does Rocky effectively lead himself?
  6. What specific aspects of self-leadership does Rocky use to motivate himself toward achieving his goal of becoming heavyweight champion?

I don’t know how to handle this Geography question and need guidance.

For your initial post in the discussion topic, identify at least one push/pull factor (a factors that pushes people out of one area and pulls them into another area) causing the movement of Latin American people, and give specific examples. How does location, either relative or absolute, factor into this movement? Use the Themes of Geography resource to support your discussion of movement and location while addressing this prompt.

In response to your peers, you should make connections from the original post to your choice of any other themes of geography that might be impacted by this kind of profound movement of people.

To complete this assignment, review the Discussion Rubric document.

Hello Class,

Although there are a number of reasons for push/pull migration is think violence is a chief reason for the push/pull factor in Latin American migration. With the increase of violence in Mexico due to drug cartels many people are seeking safety and better quality of life for their families. Ports of entry to the United States and major transportation routes often see the worst violence due to these areas being contested for control (Nijman, Muller & De Bilj, 2017). Although the violence may be declining it is still very present. In November there was the story about gunmen ambushing and killing three mothers and six children who were U.S. citizens, there was also a two-day gun battle killing twenty-two people between the cartel and Mexican security forces across the border from Texas (Còrdoba, 2019). All humans need and want to feel safe, we also want to protect our families, so we are willing to travel in search of a better life. Another key factor in the movement of migrants is the location of Mexico and the border it shares with North America. It is easier to get to the northern border by rail, car or foot than trying to get a boat big enough to safely cross large bodies of water.

Madeline Yeatts posted Jan 14, 2020 2:17 PM

The economy is a key driver in migration. The loss of a job may require a family to relocate in search of another one, if the jobs are scarce in their own region. The promise of a better job could be a draw for workers to another location. The shifting economic landscape of a city that is becoming a tourist attraction, as illustrated in the textbook with the example of Cabo San Lucas, (a city that is becoming a new, or second, home for many North Americans) can push out longtime residents if the cost of housing and necessities is driven up by tourism (The World Today, 2016). All of these things can cause people to move around their region of origin, and can also cause them to seek a home in another region, leading to cross-country immigration. To quote the Themes of Geography resource: “Movement of people, money, goods, and ideas is inherently geographical” (Themes of Geography, n.d.).
