Psychology’s roots have been attributed to the early Greek philosophers such as Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle. The emergence of scientific thought began through the writings and teachings of Christian church scholars. One of the movements was based on Scholasticism, which was the attempt to bring theological thought to human reasoning. Thomas Aquinas was considered one of the major contributors to this school of thought. As we move through our studies in this course it is apparent that the major contributors to psychology stem from not only Classical Greek philosophy but a strong Western European Christian philosophy as well.

What is the importance of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle in understanding the foundations of psychology? Describe the similarities and differences among these three philosophers and how their philosophies compare and contrast with the philosophies of others, such as the Sophists.

How did early Christian scholars like Thomas Aquinas synthesize the Greek philosophy with Christian theological perspectives? What impact did Aquinas’ writings have on future philosophical thinking?

Why would it be important to expand our historical perspectives on psychology to include philosophical points of view from Eastern and Mid-Eastern cultures, such as Hinduism, Buddhism, and Confucianism?

In recent years, most businesses have been striving to minimize their environmental footprint driven by increased cost and environmental concern. In a response to this, consumers and regulatory entities are demanding that hotel operators make an effort to minimize the environmental impact of their lodging operation. Find an application where Ohm’s Law is used. It can be within a product, as part of the design process, or measuring a physical quantity. Your Ohm’s Law application must be unique. Include any references or sources that you use for the information in your post. Your references must be academically credible, meaning the author must have sufficient qualifications to publish on the subject. At the very least, the author should be a company, organization or individual with the needed qualifications. So that means no Wikipedia, Yahoo Answers, etc. All posts should have references, unless you are posting on a system that you directly have experience with.

I’m studying for my Communications class and need an explanation.

Chapters 14 and 15 in your text cover legal and ethical issues in social media. Pick a court case discussed in either chapter, and research it a little further. Write a brief overview of the court case, which legal issues were brought into question (which laws were considered broken), and if you think the case was actually in violation of privacy or defamation laws. Please explain why or why you did not agree with the court ruling.

Your paper should be between 600 and 900 words and written in APA format. List your sources in an APA reference list at the end of your paper.

Important note: Citing a court case in the proper format is key. United States v. Paramount (1948) is correct.

The students will need to determine a method of monitoring the activities, such as joining a news/email group, participating in a social media forum, attending meetings, or other method.

Students will submit an introduction to their report, at a date determined by the instructor. The introduction will include the title and references of the standards activity they will be monitoring, a brief description of the purpose of the standard, a summary of the status of the standard, and the method by which the student will complete their observations.

When Cook County, Ill., needed to plug a budget hole last year, it turned to a new levy on soft drinks it hoped would boost its fiscal health—and the health of its residents.

But pushback has been fierce since the penny-an-ounce tax (Links to an external site.) took effect Aug. 2 in the county that includes Chicago. Retailers are suing the county over the tax, and consumers are suing retailers. State lawmakers on both sides of the aisle have introduced bills that would kill the tax and prevent counties from levying similar ones in the future. A bipartisan group of Cook County commissioners have proposed an ordinance that would repeal the tax.

Several municipalities approved beverage taxes (Links to an external site.) in 2016 and four have put them into effect this year, including Philadelphia (Links to an external site.). Cook County is the largest municipality to implement such a tax.
