Art writing essay-02
Im stuck on a Writing question and need an explanation.
Read these two articles, and write 350 words reading journal
Entry 1: Shifting Observations, interview with Catherine Opie (Links to an external site.)
Entry 2: Tracking the Gaze, by Michael Neault
Reading Journals Requirement:
The Reading Journal (RJ) assignments are written responses to each assigned reading or video and will generally be due every Monday at 2:00pm (see the Modules section of Canvas to check due dates each week). A reading journal is not your first impression about the text, nor a summary of its content. It is a layout of your experience reading the text and your personal reactions to and analysis of it. These assignments require you to use critical thinking and analysis and to draw connections between your own ideas and those of the authors. For example: were you surprised at how the writer described their viewpoints? Does the writer give you a new way of thinking about that topic? Was something shocking in the reading/video, or did it make you laugh why? Does it connect to things youve heard in this class or other classes, or to other ideas you had? Does it help you think about art in a different way? What questions or confusions do you have about the topics presented? Be specific!!!
The Reading journal functions as proof of your engagement with and analysis of each reading. If you just summarize some key points of the text or tell me what you liked or disliked you have given insufficient proof of your engagement with the content and will be marked down. So, do not summarize what happened in the reading; tell me what happened inside of your head when you read the text. Importantly, you must be specific about what ideas or sections of the reading you are responding to. Though I dont want a summary, I do want specific references to content in the reading so that I know you have actually read and engaged with it. Remember to always ground your analysis in relation to the actual content of the reading/video.
PLEASE REMEMBER TO PROPERLY QUOTE AND ATTRIBUTE (NAME) ANYONE ELSES WORDS IF YOU WISH TO REFER TO THEM THROUGH EITHER DIRECT QUOTES OR PARAPHRASE IN YOUR WRITING (more information about the consequences of plagiarism are below in the Academic Misconduct / Plagiarism Policy section).
Each of the readings and videos that are assigned weekly requires a single journal entry, clearly titled with the name of the article. Most weeks there are more than one readings/videos assigned, so please remember to write a separate response to each (separate them in one document by the article titles, or submit them as individual documents). Each journal entry should be at least 350 words in length, which works out to about half a page long (1.15 spacing).
Here are some suggestions about how to write your journal if you need guidance :
- Read through the assigned reading (or watch the assigned video) to gain an overall understanding of the material.
2. Jot down your thoughts while, and just after, you read or view. Mark passages that stood out to you. - Go back to your notes and try to make them full sentences if they are not already.
4. While reading your notes consider your general impressions and then go back to those parts of the text or video that require more specific observations and analysis. You might use the following questions as a guideline (you do not have to answer them specifically; they are merely meant to help you focus):
- What are your overall impressions of the reading or video?
- What particular passages or details stand out to you? Why do you think they might be important?
- How does this reading/video relate to the themes we have been discussing in class so far? The themes of other sources? The themes of the course as a whole?
- How might your personal experiences or background relate to the reading/video?
- What questions do you have about the reading/video? What passages or ideas were difficult to understand?
Morals/ethics and human behavior
Im working on a Law exercise and need support.
Imogene Badpenny is the supervisor for Grantham County Sheriffs Department dispatchers. Badpenny has worked for Grantham County for 16 years with a stellar work record. Recently, Badpenny has started dating Mitch Dreadford who is known by local law enforcement as one of the biggest drug dealers in the county. Dreadford has a previous felony arrest and served time in prison for the sale, distribution, and manufacturing of methamphetamines.
Badpenny believes she is in love with Dreadford but is keeping her relationship a secret because of Dreadfords past criminal history. Badpenny would prefer to avoid any negative comments or being scrutinized by the officers or dispatchers that she works with because or her choice in boyfriends.
Recently, Badpenny started dispatching part-time for the University City Police Department to give her extra funds to buy a new car.
Dreadford lives in University City, which is located in Grantham County. From time to time Badpenny, will visit Dreadford at his home. However, Badpenny does not want the officers in University City finding out that she is dating Dreadford, so when she visits Dreadford, Badpenny parks her vehicle a couple of blocks away and then walks to Dreadford’s house.
While working at both Grantham County Sheriff’s Department and University City, Badpenny has access to sensitive information like social security numbers, driver’s license information, and past criminal records. In addition to all the personal information, Badpenny is allowed to view past and current criminal investigations from the officers and detectives. During her 16 years of employment, Badpenny has never violated any departmental policies or procedures and rarely calls in sick. Also, to obtain her position as a police dispatcher, Badpenny passed an intensive background investigation and a polygraph examination.

Discussion
Explain the guidelines Ledford & Gast (2019) suggest for using an A-B-A-B design. Then provide a short discussion of internal and external validity issues for this specific design to include a discussion of the advantages and disadvantages of the design. Finally, identify a hypothetical target behavior (dependent variable) for change and a possible intervention (independent variable). The target behavior should be a behavior you want to increase and the intervention should be some form of reinforcement procedure (i.e., differential reinforcement). Provide a brief scenario and rationale for the behavior change plan. Make sure the behavior identified is measurable and observable.

a paper about comic books
Im working on a Writing exercise and need support.
Here’s a nifty site where you can read free digital comics. Yeah!
For your final paper, you will be conducting a very basic critical analysis of a graphic novel of your choice. You may also use a story arc consisting of several issues. You may not use a single issue of a comic for your analysis. Heres the breakdown:
4 pages total
1 margins
MLA format (including headings and Works Cited Page)
4 sources (one for the book itself. One for your theory. Two others for supporting evidence (could be other critical analyses or other definitions for your theory, or a definition describing your lens of choice, etc.)
How to move forward:
1.Pick a graphic novel or story arc. Approve it with me.
2.Read it.
3.Think about which lens would work. Remember. This semester we covered:
a.Psychological Lens
b.Sociological Lens
c.Race/Ethnicity
d.Feminist Lens
e.Monomyth
4.Find a theory within the lens you choose. For example, if you choose the psychological lens, choose a psychology theory.
5.Write paper.
Writing the Paper:
The paper is broken down into six sections.
1.Introduction
2.Summary (1/2 page).
3.Value judgment (1/2 page) (what did you like about the comic book? What didnt you like?) Cover:
a.Art work
b.Content (story)
c.Character(s)
d.You may cover other elements like paneling, lettering, etc.
4.Introduce us to your lens and theory (1/2 page to 1 page)
a.Tell us about your theory? Which lens does it fall under? Who created the theory? Can you provide us with a working definition?
5.Analyze your text using the lens.
6.Conclusion
If you need help finding a theory, please consult the theories document in this folder.
FINAL NOTE: If you deviate a bit from the organization, that is fine. For example, some students incorporate analysis into the summary because they don’t want to waste an entire page of the paper summarizing the text. That would be acceptable.
Another example would be incorporating the introduction of your lens/theory into the intro paragraph and then not discussing it after the summary section. This too would be acceptable.
FAQ:
Q: Can I expand upon one of my journals for this assignment?
A: Naw. That would inhibit your growth as a literary analyst!
Psychological Lens
1.Freuds theory of Id, Ego, Superego
2.Freuds Dream Theory or Dream-Symbol Analysis
3.Eriksons Psychosocial stages of development
4.Eysencks Three Dimensions of Personality
Sociological Lens

2.Marxist Criticism
3.Social Identity Theory (Henri Tajfel) (could also be arguably psychological)
4.Durkheims theory of Anomie
5.Anarchism/Anarchy theory
Monomyth
1.Hero Archetypes
2.Character Archetypes in General
3.Heros Journey
4.You also have the option of doing a comparative analysis, comparing objects/characters to their depictions in previous mythology, like we did with Sandman
Feminist Lens essentially sociological
1.Looking at the depiction of females in your text, how they are portrayed visually
2.Looking at the predominance of male characters and hyper masculine, sexist males in comics
Race Relations essentially sociological
1.Looking at the depiction of characters of different races/ethnicities and how they are portrayed visually.
