GT Written Assignment 1

I’m trying to study for my Business course and I need some help to understand this question.

Answer the following questions. Each of your answers should be an essay of 250 to 350 words (with a typical font and spacing this will be about 1 to 1-1/2 pages).

  1. In the movie The Princess Bride, the outlaw Vizzini is offered two goblets of wine and must determine which one holds the poison. He begins by saying: “Now, a clever man would put the poison into his own goblet because he would know that only a great fool would reach for what he was given. I am not a great fool, so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of you. But you must have known I was not a great fool—you would have counted on it—so I can clearly not choose the wine in front of me.” This situation includes all the four elements of a game as described by Professor Stevens. Identify and describe those four elements (including common knowledge), and relate them to this game.
  2. The definition of strategy used in game theory specifies how a player will react in every situation, even situations that will not come to pass when the game is actually played. Consider the proposition that when you choose to do often depends on the consequences that would result if you chose to do something else—in other words, your choice is dependent upon elements that never occur. Describe and discuss at least two situations in your personal experience in which this was the case.

I need an explanation for this Business question to help me study.

The relationship between the organization and its members can be greatly influenced by what motivates individuals to work. The style of leadership, job design, resources on the job, and environment can all have a significant effect on the satisfaction of employees and their performance. Performance is also influenced by individual motivations (e.g., social, recognition, financial reward, personal growth and development, and/or intrinsic satisfaction) and can equally impact the organization. There are many theories that attempt to explain the nature of motivation. Write a four- to five-page paper (excluding the title and reference pages) evaluating the relationship between motivation, job satisfaction, and work performance. Be sure to address the following:

  1. Describe a performance issue which resulted from a motivational problem (what, why, who).
  2. Use a content theory of motivation (e.g., Maslow, Alderfer, Herzberg, or McClelland) or a process theory (i.e., Adams, Locke, or Heider and Kelley) to explain how the issue creates a performance problem for the organization.
  3. Use the theory of motivation you selected to describe an intervention/action to change the motivation/behavior and correct the performance problem.

Your paper must use a minimum of three scholarly sources, in addition to the textbook. Your paper must be formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center.

12th Grade AP English. Interpreting a Novel. Read passage excerpts and answer 25 questions.

Example Question:

Edna St. Vincent Millay’s “Inland”
People that build their houses inland,
People that buy a plot of ground
Shaped like a house, and build a house there,
Far from the sea-board, far from the sound
Of water sucking the hollow ledges,
Tons of water striking the shore,—
What do they long for, as I long for
One salt smell of the sea once more?
People the waves have not awakened,
Spanking the boats at the harbor’s head,
What do they long for, as I long for,—
Starting up in my inland bed,
Beating the narrow walls, and finding
Neither a window nor a door,
Screaming to God for death by drowning,—
One salt taste of the sea once more?

Question is blow

I’m trying to study for my Communications course and I need some help to understand this question.

I’d like you to take some time and contrast the old with the new. First, go look at the website for The New York Times (Links to an external site.) (link), often cited as the “gold standard” for newspapers (still has a printed version), and has been publishing continuously since 1851. Then, go check out The Huffington Post (Links to an external site.) (link), or “HuffPost” as it’s often called, which is seen as a “successful model” for the web (at least in terms of making profits), and was founded in 2005.

One major difference between the two is that The Times is a subscription-based service, where users can only get 10 free articles per month, before they must subscribe. HuffPost, on the other hand, is entirely free. The New York Times does it’s own original news reporting, while HuffPost is mostly a “news aggregator”, which links to various articles around the web, although they do some of their own original reporting. Of course another huge difference is The New York Times has been around since the 1800s and is one of the most elite and respected news organizations in the world, while HuffPost started as an online blog in the early 2000s and has slowly grown into a major news source and aggregator.

What do you think of the contrast between the two? How do they look, stylistically? How are their headlines written? What type of stories dominate their “front pages”? Who do you think the intended audience is? Which seems more focused on entertainment (like having “clickbait” or other sensational headlines)? Which seems more focused on factual news reporting? Which would you prefer to read regularly, if you had to choose?

Assignment: Business Structure Report

I’m studying for my Business Law class and don’t understand how to answer this. Can you help me study?

For this Assignment, you will have a chance to provide that recommendation by assuming the role of a junior legal research team member at XYZ Corporation. The Company has been asked to review several business scenarios for clients regarding possible business structures. You have been given the task of gathering some introductory information on the topic, as well as producing a report that reviews the clients’ options for legal structures for their new companies.

To prepare for this Assignment:

  • Review the Learning Resources and take into consideration how different business owners will have a variety of wants and needs when deciding upon a legal business structure. Try to anticipate those needs.
  • Refer to the Academic Writing Expectations for 2000/3000-Level Courses as you compose your Assignment.

By Day 7

Submit your report containing recommendations for appropriate legal structures for the five clients’ business types. For each scenario, address the following in your report:

  • Choose which type of business structure would be most appropriate for the situation.
  • List pros and cons of the recommended structure.
  • List the steps required for creating this type of business structure.
  • Include legal considerations and examples of related legal issues, including personal liability and taxes, as well as profit distribution, if applicable.
Scenario 1

Karen and Alex have worked together to create a concept to form a website development company. To do this, they have asked three associates to invest their own money in the business in return for receiving a percentage of the profits. The three investors will not need to be involved in any of the day-to-day management or conducting of business in the proposed company. (225–300 words, 3–4 paragraphs)

Scenario 2

A few years ago, Anika started a skateboard company called Wheels Up and she has run it as a sole proprietorship. Wheels Up has operated successfully, creating a sizable workforce and management team; however, a market opportunity has surfaced that could create significant and sustainable growth. Anika wants to change the structure of her business. She is in negotiations with venture capitalists who are interested in investing in the company. She also has two employees, Sandra and Geoff, who are so integral to the company that she wishes they had more of a stake in it. (225–300 words, 3–4 paragraphs)

Scenario 3

George would like to start a landscaping business and call it Landscaping by George. The business would require the use of heavy equipment, a large truck with a hydraulic lift, and an open trailer. Because of that, he is fearful of causing an accident and getting sued. He is mainly concerned about reducing the risk of losing his house and other personal assets because of something that happens with the business. (225–300 words, 3–4 paragraphs)

Scenario 4

Jose has started a website where he sells products that he designs and produces himself, such as T-shirts, coffee mugs, bumper stickers, and other similar items. He wants to create a business based off this website and is hoping to do so in the least complicated way possible. (225–300 words, 3–4 paragraphs)

Scenario 5

Deborah owns a bakery that is best known for her specialty cupcakes. Her most important ingredients are the gourmet chocolates Theo produces in his candy shop. . Read Appendix 5A in your text (p.311) and note the current rate and temporal methods of foreign currency translation. Select one of these methods and list its strengths and weaknesses

I’m stuck on a Business question and need an explanation.

In a global world, business combinations can be domestic or international. If a business combination is international, a U.S. parent company’s foreign subsidiaries can still conduct business activities in their local currencies. However, consolidated financial statements must be in U.S. dollars. In other words, the currencies of the non-U.S. subsidiaries financial statements must be translated to U.S. dollars. Read Appendix 5A in your text (p.311) and note the current rate and temporal methods of foreign currency translation. Select one of these methods and list its strengths and weaknesses. Be sure to mention which rate you choose in the subject line.

read the chapter from Angela Davis’

Are Prisons Obsolete? and write a short essay in response to the following questions. You should include at least 250 words per page in your response, address all of the questions, and make connections between the main points of your paper so that your response reads as a logical, coherent essay.

Papers of 4-5 pages

Explain what the author means by saying, “punishment has to be conceptually severed from its seemingly indissoluble link with crime” (85), and identify some of the obstacles to understanding the social meaning of prison today.

Through representations of prison in “a causal relation to crime”, and “as a natural, necessary, and permanent effect”, how does Television play a role in masking the major economic and political forces of the prison industrial complex (85)?

How would you show your understanding of the “abstraction of numbers” and “the unmediated

use of statistical evidence”? Why do you think Davis argues that these “discourage the very critical thinking that ought to be elicited by an understanding of the prison industrial complex“ (92)? Back up your analysis by posing challenges to the swing toward reality and away from imagination in the reality TV show “Jailbirds“ and by comparing it to one or two scenes from The Wire.
