Discussions Board Question: Poor Laws

Help me study for my History class. I’m stuck and don’t understand.

The Elizabethan Poor Laws existed unchanged in England, the American Colonies, and later, the United States for 250 years. While as a complete system of welfare, they do not exist anymore, some of the core principles, values, and beliefs about what causes poverty and the poor themselves still exist in American society and within our current Welfare System. Can you detect any societal beliefs about poverty and the poor that can be traced to the Elizabethan Poor Laws? Think about all the disparate components of our system such as social security, food stamps, health care, public assistance, work program, child welfare, and mental health. Back-up your claims with examples from current policy. Use all resources at your disposal. My questions to you will be to lead the discussion towards understanding, not politicising…..

Research Question and Introduction Development

I’m studying for my Law class and don’t understand how to answer this. Can you help me study?

In this assignment, you will use Chapter 3 of Rossi (2004) as a guide in the development of a proper research question that can be used as the foundation upon which you will build your Final Paper. To further assist you in the development of a practical, measurable, and valid research question, read the introduction and methodology sections of any of the journal articles listed within the Required Resources or Recommended Resources sections throughought the course. Examining the methodologies and opening sections of a journal article will provide examples of how other scholars have generated their hypotheses and research questions. The research question will appear in the introduction of the Final Paper as well as within its methodology section.

Next, you will use your research question to assist in the formation of a proper introduction for your Final Paper. Provide your readers with a summary of the topic under consideration, its place in the field of criminal justice, why it is important to undertake an evaluation of the topic, policy relevance, social significance, and anything else you discover that might be considered noteworthy. You can use this week’s recommended article or any scholarly articles you find to guide you as to the proper organization of the introduction. Your introduction and research question should be drafted in such a manner as to be suitable for presentation before an audience of criminal justice professionals.

In your paper,

  • Formulate the research question you will address in your Final Paper.
  • Write the introduction to your Final Paper.

The “Research Question and Introduction Development” assignment

  • Must be 750 to 1,250 words in length (not including title and references pages), double spaced, and formatted according to APA style as outlined in the Ashford Writing Center (Links to an external site.).
  • Must include a separate title page with the following:
    • Title of paper
    • Student’s name
    • Course name and number
    • Instructor’s name
    • Date submitted
  • Must use at least three scholarly sources in addition to the course text.

Prepare a power point presentation which should include the STIGs that were reviewed, the findings you found and what fixes you implemented to reach at least 90% vulnerability fixed requirement. it shouldn’t be less than eight slides

I don’t understand this Computer Science question and need help to study.

you have recently purchased a Cisco router that will need to be implemented in a government facility at the perimeter of the network. This router will handle sensitive data. In order for the government to implement the router, you must perform a manual scan of the appropriate STIGs and determine what configurations will need to be implemented in order to get rid of at least 90% of the vulnerabilities.

Here are some of the details of the network you need to know.

1. The only routing protocol used is OSPF(RIP and BGP is not used).

2. SNMP will be used to monitor the router.

Here are your tasks:

1. Download and install the STIG viewer from the DISA website.

2. Determine the appropriate STIG for the device you are scanning and download the STIGs

3. Manually scan through the vulnerabilities in the STIG viewer and using the provided router configuration text file, determine which vulnerabilities are either a finding (or open), not a finding or not applicable.

4. Modify the router config file so that at least 90% of the vulnerabilities are fixed.

Develop Case Notes Renda

I need help with a Social Science question. All explanations and answers will be used to help me learn.

Read the case below of Renda, a welfare mother. Then, develop a set of notes you would use to present Renda’s case to a team of fellow case management colleagues. Your notes may follow the format of a structured paper, or they may be a list of bullet points with a short paragraph to address each key question. Your total assignment should be two-three pages long. Ensure that your case notes address the following six key questions:

  1. How did Renda’s problems change?
  2. What do you know about the sources of the problems?
  3. What motivations prompt Renda to solve the problems?
  4. What are Renda’s interests and strengths that support the helping process?
  5. What cultural considerations should be addressed when working with Renda?
  6. What barriers may affect Renda’s attempts to resolve the problems?

In your responses, cite three scholarly sources. Format your paper per the guidelines in the APA 6th. The title and reference pages are not part of the total page count.

Case of Renda:

I was a client in the human service system for a long time. The beginning of my life as a client actually happened when I was still with my husband. He was not supplying any money to our family. We could not afford diapers, food, or anything for our home. We lived out in the middle of nowhere in a broken down trailer with no electricity, hot water, things like that. I had to go to Social Services to try to get some food for my child because we literally had no food or diapers. I found out that my husband, now my ex-husband, was using the welfare money to gamble. I finally left my husband due to abuse. I was tired of being beaten up and tired of being emotionally abused by him.

At that point, I was totally dependent on the welfare system. I received state funds for taking care of my daughter, medical insurance, and other things. I didn’t know where else I could go. I had very few options. I could either go to work at minimum wage or apply for welfare. Applying for welfare would allow me to go back to school, at least for a little while. The social service agencies helped me apply for grants and loans so I could go back to school.

The very first time I went to a meeting at social services was to gain help not only for my daughter and me, but also for my husband. When I went back the second time to apply for assistance just for my daughter and me, I ended up getting a really wonderful worker, Cindy. When I went in to see her, she could . . . I don’t know, we just clicked and it was almost like she said, “You need to cry.” And I said, “Yeah.” At that point I was living in a women’s abuse center. I had no self-esteem, no self-respect. I was in the gutter, literally. I did not know where to go. After my talk with Cindy, she summarized my needs: money, school, insurance, and child care. Of course, she said, that was only her first shot at identifying my problems.

NSG 4068: Reaching out a solution

I need support with this Nursing question so I can learn better.

Instructions

Reaching out a Solution

This assignment is designed to assist you in developing a thoughtful process for advocating about an issue as a nurse, from identifying a problem that needs to be solved through articulating a process for doing so.

This assignment consists of answering each of the questions listed below from the “Political Analysis and Strategies” chapter of your course textbook. Write each question as a new topic area; then follow with a paragraph or two to answer the question. Be sure to use APA guidelines for writing style, spelling and grammar, and citation of sources, if any used. This project should be no longer than 4 pages.

Let us assume that you are a school nurse in a high school. At a recent school athletic event, a spectator suffered a cardiac arrest in the stands. A coach of the home team went into the high school to fetch the automatic emergency defibrillator (AED) only to find out that it was not readily available. In the meantime, an emergency squad arrived and resuscitated the spectator. On Monday morning, you learn of the absence of the AED only to find out that it had been locked in the custodian’s closet. Reflect on the following questions outlined in the “Political Analysis and Strategies” chapter:

  • What is the issue?
  • Is it my issue, and can I solve it?
  • Is this the real issue or merely a symptom of a larger one?
  • Does it need an immediate solution, or can it wait?
  • Is it likely to go away by itself?
  • Can I risk ignoring it?
  • What are the possible solutions? Are there risks to these solutions?
  • What steps would you need to take in order to solve the issue?
  • Does anyone else at the school need to be involved in the solution?
  • Where is the power leverage in the school to reach the preferred solution?

Reaching a solution requires the use of power vested in the nurse. Review Box 9-1 (Sources of Power) and determine which type(s) of power the school nurse has in this situation. State your reasons for your answer.

  1. No Wikipedia, No Health.com, No .com for references.

I like .gov, state boards of nursing and the American Nurses Association websites. I love academic/nursing journal articles. You can also use assigned readings and POLITICO Pulse and Kaiser Health News Morning Briefing.

ITEC 2060 Week 6 – Assignment Data Warehouses and Business Intelligence

I’m working on a MySQL question and need guidance to help me study.

Assignment: Data Warehouses and Business Intelligence

Big data, business intelligence, online analytical processing, data mining, business analytics all have one thing in common; they often rely on a data warehouse to store information. Data warehouses store very large amounts of data. This raw data is of little value unless it can be transformed into meaningful and useful information.

In this application, you will use the text and other resources to examine data warehousing. You will submit a 3-4 page paper that addresses the following topics:

  • What is a data warehouse?
  • What are the primary similarities and differences between a data warehouse and a transactional database?
  • When should an organization consider developing a data warehouse?
  • How are data warehouses structured?
  • Describe at least two real-world examples of how a data warehouse is used to provide “business intelligence” that can give an organization a competitive advantage.

Include at least two additional interesting facts you discovered in your research on data warehouses and business intelligence.

Fan Letter

I’m working on a Subject Major exercise and need support.

material;

WRITING ASSIGNMENTS

Fan Letter (750 word minimum)

Write a Fan Letter to a musical theatre artist and tell them why you admire them. This assignment combines research, analysis and creativity in order to give you an in-depth understanding of the contributions of one composer, lyricist, librettist, performer, choreographer or director of stage musicals.

There are some examples of past Fan Letters at: http://www.csudh.edu/bdeluca/The%20American%20Musical/Musicals.html

You are encouraged to choose an artist from the many musicals listed in our Course Outline, which will help ensure that you are choosing a Musical Theatre artist, and not just a contemporary singer or performer. After reading about your chosen artist in our text or online sources, do some basic research on their background, their other productions, and what others have written or said about their artistry. Before writing the letter, spend time analyzing their work to get to know what you feel are the reasons that make their accomplishments stand out. Some of the questions below may help you gain familiarity with their work:

If you choose a Composer: What is the quality of this composer’s music? How does the composer use Soft or Loud values (dynamics); Fast or Slow beats (Tempo); or High or Low tones (Pitch). How do these expressive qualities create an emotional mood in their work?

If … a Librettist: Are there compelling themes in the stories of this librettist’s book? Statement made by the show? Intention in writing this work? Would you classify the musical as tragedy, comedy, melodrama, farce, tragicomedy? How does the plot succeed?

Lyricist: What makes the lyrics work for the songs of this lyricist? Can you describe their lyrics as witty, simple and straightforward, poetic?

Choreographer: What made the dances work? Were they graceful and solemn? Highly paced and sensuous? How well did the choreographer shape the movements of all the dancers?

Director: Actors cast appropriately? Imaginative use of the space? Theatrical compositions of actors and settings that helped the audience see the story being told? Movement of the actors well motivated? Pace of the action effective?

Actor/Singer: Believable characterizations? Actors related to each other believably? Performers seemed spontaneous, relaxed, and natural? Easy to understand? Clear and resonant vocal qualities? Comfortable singing range? Singing tone appropriate for the character?

After completing the research and analysis, write a Fan Letter to your chosen artist and express your admiration for them. Use the following structure for the paragraphs of the letter:

Introduction: Tell him or her why you like their work (artistic style of movement, cleverness of lyrics, importance of issues, quality of musical forms, etc.). Avoid making only general descriptions of praise, and focus more on the reasons that you appreciate their work.

Career: Express your admiration for their entire body of work and how they’ve succeeded in their career. Perhaps include awards, challenges they had to overcome, specific shows where they distinguished themselves, great roles they’ve played, etc.

Focus Musical: Go into depth on the musical from the outline. Include details of who, what, when, and where it was performed, what themes were explored, what plot line it followed, and most importantly, your artist’s contribution to the show. Use examples from the show to reveal their artistry. You might use a quoted section from the dialogue or lyrics and present why you think the quote is significant. You could include your analysis of the questions posed above. Discuss moments from the show, and what made them stand out.

Conclusion: Finish with a clear statement of what you feel was significant about their contribution to musical theatre. Perhaps share how you identify with one of their characters or found personal relevance to their performance.

Use the Fan Letter button on the Blackboard site to submit your letter as an attached MS Word document. Please use a simple title for the document, like “wicked.doc” so that Blackboard and Turnitin won’t have a problem accepting it.

The Musical Research Paper (5 page minimum)

The Musical Research Paper has a formal, professional tone, and is intended to help students develop an original and thoughtful composition that is accurate in research and analysis, well organized in structure, and clear in comprehension. The main objective of the paper is to use analysis and research to inform us about the musical itself and how it reflects American life. Avoid merely summarizing the plot, and instead, analyze how the story and characters contribute to a social reflection, making sure that you focus on the lyrics and music and/or dance of at least three songs. You can also use background information about the librettist, lyricist and composer, details about the work itself (actors/singers, directors/choreographers, dialogue, etc.), and historical facts about the world outside the musical in order to draw parallels with the musical. It is always powerful to personalize, but keep the focus on the musical and your analysis of it, rather than on your own life. Here are some questions to help you in your analysis:

How does the music, lyrics and dancing contribute to storytelling?

What are the main themes and is there a statement made by the show?

How is the musical a reaction to something happening in the country at the time?

Is there a character who represents some issue from the era? Are there characters who function as members of the society of the time?

Does the style of the music or staging reflect a quality or issue of the world of the play/musical?

How does the musical reflect the culture that produced it?

In either case, you need to argue your position by explaining how specific examples from the musical support it. Take us into the musical by drawing examples from it, rather than discussing only the era from when the show was produced. A dialogue sequence or a monologue from the libretto may serve your claim as evidence, but also consider the dramatic action (what happens in a scene), as well as characters, the lyrics of the songs, and the style of the music (which communicates feeling more directly than words).

This paper requires more than a paraphrasing from Wikipedia or enotes.com; it demands that you read the actual libretto and/or view the work itself in some form, and apply your critical thinking to it. Do NOT choose one of the six musicals we have focused on in class. The experience is meant to be your own exploration of a work of your choice that does not simply repeat something already covered in class.

The Research Paper should utilize at least 3 to 5 works as sources in the List of Works Cited, and include at least 3 to 5 citations to those sources in the text. Citing your sources not only avoids plagiarism, but gives your paper more credibility. Humanities follows MLA Documentation practice, and you need to use that system for this paper. It won’t hurt you to try a different format from what you may be used to. To acknowledge your sources in the text of the paper, type the author’s last name and a page number within parentheses at the end of the sentence that includes the author’s idea or quotation (Parenthetical Documentation). Do not put whole titles or website addresses in a citation; you will only need a List of Works Cited page at the end of the paper (arranged alphabetically) instead of the usual Endnotes and Bibliography pages. These examples should help guide you, but for specific instructions on creating all forms of documentation, you should consult the MLA Guidelines. If you do not possess a style manual, you might wish to use the online site at Purdue to help you (
).

NOTE ON SOURCES: Though you can get familiar with your musical by doing preliminary research using sources from the “surface web” (sources one can access with any search engine, like Wikipedia, bookrags, enotes, sparknotes, etc.), you need to access works for your List of Works Cited from the “deep web” (sources one can only access through the library’s portal, like JStor, Project Muse, etc.). The use of “validated critics” on sites that are subject to “peer review” ensures that your work will have the authority to provide a strong argument for your thesis.

NOTE ON WRITING: If I determine that you need assistance with your writing beyond my ability to provide it, I will assign you to a CLASS tutor and receive reports from your tutor. If you do not work with the tutor until I say such work is no longer needed, I will reduce your grade by 20%.
