Sociology Reading Journal – EASY

I need an explanation for this Sociology question to help me study.

*******NO PLAGIARISM WILL BE TOLERATED. PROPER SPELLING AND GRAMMAR IS REQUIRED. IF THESE RULES ARE BROKEN IT WILL RESULT IN A WITHDRAWAL********

ASA format. 12 point font double spaced. 1 page for each reading minimum.

2 total readings. 2 pages. 2 separate quotes. Each reading on separate page.

Reading theory is challenging, to say the least. It often requires multiple readings, “googling” terms you do not understand, and a general tenacity that can be difficult to muster. Journaling will help with this.

Directions:

  1. Read the requiring readings. (Marx – Alienated Labor, Marx and Engles – The German Ideology)
  2. After you have read the piece, identify with a quote that you believe best summarizes the main argument, or one of the main arguments, of each piece.
  3. Title your journal entry with the author and title of the reading.
  4. Type the quote you chose at the top.
  5. Explain why you think this quote best summarizes the argument. This means you will write—in your own words— a paragraph or two on how you understand the piece and how the quote reflects that understanding.

my question is blow

I’m trying to study for my Communications course and I need some help to understand this question.

I’ll admit that I’m not the most knowledgeable about issues surrounding gender & media (although we have some faculty in our department who specialize in that topic), although thinking about how gender is represented in media, gender issues in the workplaces that make up the media industry, and how gender relates to people’s experience online (in a place that sometimes has forms of anonymity) are just some of the many questions that media scholars examine with regards to gender and media.

In particular, we’ve seen a heightened sense of awareness, especially with the recent #MeToo movement that has proven one of the most powerful and influential digital social movement to take place in the last decade.

For today, you watched two films, both by the same producers, one that looks at women, the other, men. They cover a lot (maybe too much?) but I’d like you to expand on some of the issues and topics that were raised. Please be specific, and reference the issue/topic/argument/point that you’re addressing (that is, explain specifically what is being said before you respond). You can also compare how the two films approach the topic of gender (they appear to take a different approach). Beyond this, this is considered an open prompt.

LP1 Assignment: Decentralization

I’m studying for my Writing class and don’t understand how to answer this. Can you help me study?

This is a law assignment, and will assess the following competency:

1. Evaluate the functions and goals of management in a criminal justice environment.

Directions:

Read the scenario and questions below and write a 3-4 page (750-1000 word) essay answering the questions. The assignment should be submitted using Microsoft Word with default margins, using 12 point Times New Roman black font, double spacing, and APA format.

Scenario:

Imagine that you are the elected sheriff for a county that encompasses a major metropolitan area. In the past year, there has been an unfortunate series of officer-involved shootings where some citizens and the media claim that the officers murdered the suspects (now deceased) in “cold blood.” This led to a few protests that were peaceful and a few that turned to violence and looting.

This is only the start of your management troubles! The state supreme court ruled (a few weeks ago) that the conditions in your county prison are unhealthy and unsafe. The court ordered the release of 5,000 inmates to reduce the overcrowding problem that led to the unsafe and unhealthy conditions.

Finally, the Public Defender’s office has been forced to furlough attorneys and freeze hiring due to the financial impact (on the budget) from the recent national financial collapse. Each Public Defender has an average of 594 cases. The Public Defender has now refused to provide services to those arrested of third-degree felonies claiming that “adequate representation cannot be provided to the qualified indigent when my attorneys are so overly-burdened”.

A group of ivory-tower academics are studying these three issues and have determined that it is a result of decentralization. They requested, and have been granted, an interview with you to discuss the recent events and plaguing issues. They specifically selected you to interview because you have nearly forty-years of law enforcement experience and have been given the nickname ‘The People’s Sheriff’. The following are their questions:

Questions:

  1. Why does your criminal justice system hire lawyers who try to exonerate the defendants whom the police arrested and the prosecution locked away?
  2. Why does your criminal justice system employ lawyers for the convicts that are suing correctional officers and facilities?
  3. Why do citizens claim that you are encroaching on their civil rights when you get ‘tough on crime’ yet conversely decry that you are ‘soft on crime’ when you protect the rights of the accused?
  4. What specific plans do you have to address and remedy the three issues that we are discussing?

* Include at least three academic or professional sources to support your work. APA citations need to be included both in-text and in a separate reference page.
