Fire Protection

I need support with this Health & Medical question so I can learn better.

Question 1

Instructions

Jigsaw puzzles use strategies that develop problem-solving skills and boost logical reasoning. People complete jigsaw puzzles individually and in groups. In groups, cooperative learning is used to help each other solve the puzzle and build comprehension. Individually, it helps build critical thinking. Online, it is difficult to solve the puzzle and build comprehension or even critical thinking; however, take one piece of the jigsaw puzzle, and discuss the one piece as to what it is; when it activates; where it is used; as well as how and why it is used. Have you ever seen a sprinkler head activated? Where? Did it control or extinguish the fire?

Your journal entry must be at least 200 words. No references or citations are necessary.

Question 2

Instructions

Part 5: Scenario-Based Case Study

For this assignment, you will submit Part 5 of the scenario-based case study course project, which is due in Unit VIII. You should evaluate and revise the recommendations as needed during the process for each previous unit as you learn more during the progression of this course. Please continue to draw upon your imagination to think creatively on potential concerns with fire and explosive hazards, fire controls, and fire and emergency management. Look at fire protection technology in a holistic way that is significantly different from what was previously designed by thinking in isolation. You will evaluate and develop recommendations to resolve potential fires in the future.

Section I

As you make suggestions to improve the water-based fire sprinkler system, refer back to the background information, if needed, to provide you with the necessary material to identify the basic components common to fire protection for the City of Washington Distribution Warehouse. In addition, review the Points to Ponder Scenario in the Unit V Lesson for additional information.

This assignment is not looking for compliance with building codes nor expecting you to be a fire protection system designer. However, the purpose of this assignment is for you to apply the concepts and knowledge you learned in this unit as you begin writing your final project covering protection systems that will detect, contain, control, and extinguish a fire. This assignment provides you with the opportunity to use your skills, expertise, and experience to enrich your response.

Prepare a well-organized narrative that addresses foam and water-based fire sprinkler systems and includes your recommendations after reviewing the background information and the information above. Your discussion will consist of your evaluation of the previous water-based sprinkler system, based on information from the textbook and any additional research needed for your recommendations for the rebuild of the warehouse. Discuss the importance of water pressure, and determine the pressure for seven sprinkler heads discharging 157.5 gallons of water per minute.

Section II

As we saw in the Points to Ponder Scenario in the unit lesson, hot work is capable of generating a spark or heat from welding, cutting, grinding, burning, melting, or brazing, which can lead to a fire. Based on the scenario in the lesson, describe designated work areas. Discuss if hot work permits are required anytime hot work is performed in an undesignated area. Discuss the role of fire watch and if that individual has the authority to stop the hot work.

For this assignment, you will write a two-page narrative (one page per section) supporting your position. You must have a title page and references page. An abstract is not required. You may use information from reputable, reliable journal articles, case studies, scholarly papers, and other sources that you feel are pertinent. You should use at least three sources, one of which must be your textbook. All sources used, including the textbook, must be referenced; paraphrased and quoted material must have accompanying citations following proper APA style.

Question 3

Instructions

The textbook suggests that there is some disagreement over the value of standpipe and hose systems as they may give false security to building occupants. Some believe having a standpipe hose may create the impression that occupants should fight fire even though a safer course would be to escape. What are your thoughts? Have you ever lived in an apartment, worked in a building, or attended a school that had a standpipe hose system? Do you believe occupants should fight fire? Do you believe they should escape? Why, or why not?

Your journal entry must be at least 200 words. No references or citations are necessary.

Question 4

Part 6: Scenario-Based Case Study

For this assignment, you will submit Part 6 of the scenario-based case study course project, which is due in Unit VIII.

Section I

As you make suggestions to improve the standpipe and hose systems, refer back to the background information, if needed, to provide you with the necessary material to identify the basic components common to fire protection for the City of Washington Distribution Warehouse. In addition, review the Points to Ponder Scenario in the Unit VI Lesson for additional information.

This assignment is not looking for compliance with building codes nor expecting you to be a fire protection system designer. However, the purpose of this assignment is for you to apply the concepts and knowledge you learned in this unit as you begin writing your final project covering protection systems, which will detect, contain, control, and extinguish a fire. This assignment provides you with the opportunity to use your skills, expertise, and experience to enrich your response.

Prepare a well-organized narrative addressing the standpipe and hose systems and your recommendations after reviewing the background information and information above. Your discussion will consist of your evaluation of the previous standpipe and hose system, including classification and components, using information from the textbook and any additional research needed for your recommendations for the rebuild of the warehouse, including any impairments to standpipe and hose systems.

Section II

Read the Points to Ponder Scenario in the unit lesson before responding to this section. What are the various factors surrounding the ignition of cooking oil fires involving intermediate bulk container totes? What is the most effective extinguishing method for cooking oil fires? Consider the fire dynamics of cooking oil on the design of fire protection.

Final Project

I don’t understand this Business question and need help to study.

A Final Project is due the last class session. The Final Project will contribute 30% to the course grade.

With instructor approval, students will select an organization that either has or is experiencing challenges with its compensation and benefit system. The student will provide a brief historical view of the organization. The student should assess the company’s current challenge, review other organizations that had a similar situation (and the strategy they devised to address the issue), explore theories and strategies that should be contemplated to address the situation, and finally, include a recommendation to management regarding how to address/resolve the situation. Importantly, the student should ensure any recommendations are based on solid research and analysis and reflect a comprehensive solution to the problem.

The Final Paper must include a minimum of eight credible sources (in addition to textbook). Research topics must be reviewed in advance with the instructor.

Writing the Compensation and Benefits Paper
This essay must reflect what is considered the current “state of the art” systems, reflecting both academic and professional (practical) orientations. The Final Paper must be 9-10 double-spaced pages (not including the title and reference pages) and be formatted according to APA style guidelines. This paper may be written in first person. This Final Paper should review the available research, discuss the implications of that research for the topic area, and provide conclusions. The paper should be organized into the following areas (use section headings to organize your key points):

  1. Introduction: The area of research should be described and the purpose of the research. That is, describe the topic area in terms of (a) its relationship to the topic and (b) what you want to be able to contribute to the training literature by writing this paper. Your introduction must include a succinct thesis statement.
  2. Review of the literature: Students must provide a brief historical view of the organization and assess the company’s current challenges. This review will include an examination of other organizations with similar situations, including the strategies used to address their issues. Students need to explore theories and strategies that could address the situation. Identify any areas that may have not been addressed in the literature used for review.
  3. Implications: Assess any implications. Organize the implications of the literature in a manner that logically builds the case for your recommendations. For each of your implications be sure to reference the literature related to that implication. Be sure to indicate whether the implication is one that has already been made in the literature or if this is one that is original to you through your own analysis.
  4. Recommendations: Based on the research, students must make recommendations for a comprehensive solution to the problem. This is where you tie all the pieces together. Make sure your recommendations are organized in a logical order that synthesizes your major points relative to the purpose of your paper. Be sure that your recommendations are justified and have credible support. Inspire your audience to think about the practical application of your topic. Remember, this is the last thing you are leaving with your reader so make the context of your message clear, communicate the impact of your topic, and leave a lasting impression.
  5. Conclusion: Be sure your conclusion summarizes your paper and explains how you have addressed the thesis statement.

Your paper should include:

  • Must include a title page according to APA style.
  • Must include an introductory paragraph with a succinct thesis statement.
  • Must address the topic of the paper with critical thought and analysis.
  • Must include section headings to organize your key points clearly.
  • Must include citations to references that support the assertions made and facts presented in the paper.
  • Must conclude a conclusion paragraph that ties directly back to your thesis statement.
  • Must use APA style as outlined in the approved APA style guide to document all sources.
  • Must include, on the final page, a reference list that is completed according to APA style as outlined in the approved APA style guide.

HIST-170 COINTELPRO Documents

I’m trying to learn for my History class and I’m stuck. Can you help?

In 2017, a Justice Department report was leaked to the media (Links to an external site.)suggesting that the FBI was investigating Black Lives Matter activists and designating them as “Black Identity Extremists.” Historians, including Jeanne Theoharis, warned of the disturbing parallels between this report and the harassment of civil rights and black power leaders in the 1960s as part of the FBI’s COINTELPRO program. J. Edgar Hoover’s COunter INTELligence PROgram targeted civil rights groups as well as groups in the New Left and Antiwar movements. It used informants, agent provocateurs, infiltrators, legal and illegal wiretaps, break-ins, false correspondence, and “bad-jacketing,” which was the act of making a legitimate member of a group appear to be a collaborator with the state. FBI agents worked with journalists to plant stories in order to discredit leadership and organizations. Across the country, the Bureau collaborated with local police to repress targeted groups. Sharing resources and intelligence, activists were arrested, fired from jobs, expelled from schools and lost business contracts. COINTELPRO even used switchboard operators and postal workers to spy on citizens, with or without court order.

No one knew this was happening until an anti-war group broke into an FBI office in Pennsylvania in 1971 and stole a large cache of files. It later emerged that these activists were professors from nearby Haverford College! (You can learn more about the robbers and what they discovered in https://www.nytimes.com/video/us/100000002635482/stealing-j-edgar-hoovers-secrets.html?action=click&contentCollection=us&module=lede®ion=caption&pgtype=article

These files are still available to the public because of Freedom of Information Act requests, so you can explore the documents for yourself at this site:

https://vault.fbi.gov/cointel-pro/cointel-pro-black-extremists (Links to an external site.)

For this assignment, imagine you are journalists in 1971 aiming to break the story of the COINTELPRO program surveillance of “black extremists.” Explore some of the documents and write up an article (1-2 paragraphs) that identifies the main goals and activities of the program. What did Hoover hope to achieve? What methods were the FBI authorized to use?

Criminal Justice Report

I’m studying for my Law class and don’t understand how to answer this. Can you help me study?

As a criminal justice professional, report writing is an important aspect of your responsibilities. For this assignment, you will review a scenario and complete a report commonly found within a particular criminal justice profession.

Review the four (4) options below and choose one option to complete this assignment. For your chosen option, review the associated scenario and complete the provided report template:

  • Option 2: Adult Parole and Probation Officer
    • Scenario: Read the Lindsey Nahol Scenario below:

The defendant, Lindsey Nahol, entered Sparkle Jewelry and asked the sales clerk to show her several pieces of expensive jewelry. When the clerk turned his back, the defendant slipped a diamond necklace into her purse and walked towards the exit. When the security guard attempted to stop the defendant, she kicked and scratched the security guard. With help from the store clerk, the security guard restrained the defendant and held her in a room until the local police arrived. The local police officer placed her under arrest for robbery. Ms. Nahol has been in jail for 60 days, and has plead guilty to robbery and assault and battery. Before imposing sentencing, Judge Fairmont ask for a pre-sentence investigation or report.

The pre-sentence investigation reveals that Ms. Nahol, now 30, has been involved in the criminal justice system since she was 14, when she was adjudicated for car theft, for which she was placed on juvenile probation. However, she violated her probation, however, upon reinstatement of the probation, she successfully completed a 36-month probational term. As an adult, Ms. Nahol has been sentenced three previous times, as an adult, for various crimes including shoplifting, burglary and possession of a controlled substance. She successfully completed her probation for these offenses one year ago. Ms. Nahol states that she stole the car when she was 14 because she wanted her friends to think that she was cool and not a nerd. She states that this is also the reason why she started using drugs. As for the security officer, during the interview, Ms. Nahol stated that she was defending herself and standing her ground, because the security guard grabbed her first, when he was trying to prevent her from leaving the store.

Ms. Nahol has her high school diploma; she has not spoken to any of her family members in more than a year. But states that she is very close friends who let her crash at their house anytime she wants. She spends her time thinking about her future and is interested in earning her degree in criminal justice from Strayer University and after obtaining her degree she wants to be a juvenile probation officer.

The prosecutor has asked for five (5) years in prison, followed by five (5) years of probation. The defense attorney has asked for time served and two years of probation.

Once you have chosen one of the options above and reviewed the scenario and required report template, complete the report template in which you:

  1. Fill out the report with the specific information provided in the scenario.
  2. Fill out the report in its entirety by making the necessary assumptions and/or creating the facts that are not included in the scenario.
  3. Articulate the circumstances of the scenario in the narrative portion of the report, as appropriate.

MBA 640 Innovation Through Marketing and Technology

I need help with a Business question. All explanations and answers will be used to help me learn.

Hello, can someone please complete the following 4 questions below for me?

1. Complete Branding Strategies Discussion. Details Below:

I have attached the Slate case file to this email. It provides additional details you will need to inform your work with Carlos Chance, their head of branding. Primarily, we want you to examine the branding strategies of our competitors, as well as any brand extensions and their branding packaging decisions. This report will function as a brand audit that allows us to examine our competitors’ strengths, weaknesses, customer expectations, and our own relative position in the market. These details form the basis of the main branding elements. I met with our CEO, Shanice Watts, and she wanted me to emphasize the following eight categories we would like you to analyze in your report about our two biggest competitors:

brand personality

brand image

brand identity

brand differentiation

brand positioning

brand communication

brand loyalty

brand equity (including financial equity)

To carry out this assignment, you need to understand Slate’s competitors’ brand strategies, their consumers, how to acquire market knowledge through primary and secondary research, and how to use that knowledge to build and support a brand.

Deliverable: To start your research, visit the websites of Slate’s two biggest competitors and review both scholarly and reliable nonscholarly sources to explore their branding decisions. Your research of the two companies should focus on the branding elements discussed in the previous step.

Consult a minimum of two scholarly sources and eight reliable nonscholarly sources (10 total). Make sure that you use reliable, nonscholarly sources such as Reuters, Bloomberg, Yahoo! Finance, Barrons.com, Morningstar.com, Money, Forbes, Fortune, Financial Times, theWall Street Journal, and the Harvard Business Review, as well as the UMUC Library databases such as Hoover’s and ABI/INFORM.

In addition, explore the following branding websites for relevant content:

www.adage.com

www.adweek.com

www.brandchannel.com

www.ama.org

www.cmo.com

www.marketingprofs.com

Then proceed to the next step, where you will discuss branding strategy.

2. Complete Reference List. Details Below:

I want you to share the list of references you have been using to research Slate’s competitors.

Deliverable: Provide a reference list derived from your research that has a minimum of two scholarly and eight reliable, nonscholarly sources (10 in all). I suggest using reliable nonscholarly sources, such as Reuters, Bloomberg, Yahoo! Finance, Barrons.com, Morningstar.com, Money, Forbes, Fortune, the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Harvard Business Review, as well as UMUC Library databases, such as Hoover’s and ABI-Inform.

All sources should be referenced using APA formatting.

3. Complete Brand Analysis Report. Details Below:

Deliverable: Based on your research of the two companies’ brands, write an eight to nine-page report (four pages on each company) that addresses the following branding elements:

brand personality

brand image

brand identity

brand differentiation

brand positioning

brand communication

brand loyalty

brand equity (including financial equity)

As you examine these branding elements, your report should also answer the following questions:

How strong are the companies’ brands in the market?

What are the factors contributing to their strengths and weaknesses?

How are these two brands competing against each other? How strong is their global performance?

How do consumers perceive their brands?

Are there any sub-brands? Are there any brand extensions?

Your report should contain a one-page executive summary (following the cover page) that highlights the most important findings of your analysis. Also include a one-page table in an appendix at the end of the paper that compares the brand elements for the two brands.

Support your work with course readings, scholarly sources, and reliable nonscholarly sources, such as Reuters, Bloomberg, Yahoo! Finance, Barrons.com, Morningstar.com, Money, Forbes, Fortune, the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Harvard Business Review, as well as UMUC Library databases, such as Hoover’s and ABI-Inform. All sources have to be cited using APA formatting, both within the text and in the reference list.

Your final report to Carlos should be eight to nine pages, excluding cover page, executive summary, the reference list, and appendices. Any graphs, tables, and figures should be included as appendices. Your report should have one-inch margins and be double spaced in size-12 Times New Roman font. The report should be organized using headings and subheadings to improve its readability.

4. Discussion Post. Details Below.

Your analysis should consider both current and potential product users and should address the following questions:

What needs are being met by the product purchase? What are the benefits to the consumers? Make sure that you differentiate between features and benefits; go beyond manifest motives and consider latent motives.

Who is involved in the purchase process? Who are the influencers? Who are the buyers? Who are the end users?

Where are the products sold, and what are the distribution channels?

How often are the products purchased? Is there seasonality to sales?

Deliverable: By the end of Week 1, I need you to produce a six-page preliminary consumer buying behavior report (excluding cover page, reference list, tables, graphs, and exhibits) explaining your findings on consumer needs, wants, and preferences in these markets. Make sure that your report is specific to consumers of ACME’s potential product and not to consumers in general.

Support your work with the course readings and at least two scholarly sources and eight reliable nonscholarly sources, such as Reuters, Bloomberg, Yahoo! Finance, Barrons.com, Morningstar.com, Money, Forbes, Fortune, the Financial Times, the Wall Street Journal, and the Harvard Business Review, as well as the UMUC Library databases, such as Hoover’s and ABI/INFORM. All sources need to be cited using APA formatting, both within the text and in the reference list. The report should be organized using headings and subheadings to improve its readability.
