I’m studying for my Psychology class and don’t understand how to answer this. Can you help me study?

For this discussion forum, describe three things you learned from the course that you will want to remember 5 years from now. These can be ideas, theories, concepts, techniques, etc. that you think are memorable and will be useful to you in the future. In addition to naming and describing them, be sure to say why you believe they will prove useful.

Classmate #1:

The first two ideas that really stuck out in my mind when I was coming up with an answer for this forum were both from week two. Mahler’s Bonding and Separation-Individuation Theory is one that I would like to remember in 5 years. This theory was the one that discussed how important the relationship between the caregiver and child would become in the first three years of life. This is something that played a part in a forum post about how the infants were being moved from room to room every three months. I think that this one really stuck with me because it helps me to keep in mind that children have the overwhelming need to develop relationships and as someone that wants to become a teacher or work in a childcare facility, it will be important for me to keep this in my mind. Developing relationships with my students or children I care for on a real personal level is very important to me. I want to be someone they can count on and trust.

The second idea that really stuck with me were the three A’s. These are attention, approval, and attunement. This plays into the first one a little bit in that over the next 5 years it is my goal to be a teacher or childcare worker. In my pursuit for this, I truly want to be the best I can be. I want to be able to give each and every child the attention, approval, and be in tune to them as an individual. It is extremely important to me to not treat all of them as if they are the same because our lessons have really solidified for me the need for all children to be treated as individuals.

The last came from lesson three in which it was a phrase and the following information that really stuck with me. The quote said, “It takes a special person to do __________. (lesson 3)” This is something that will stay with me in 5 years because I would like to think that there is something truly special inside of me that makes me want to work with children after raising four of my own. The lesson goes on to talk about how important it is to be in good mental and physical health, be a professional, having self-confidence, be caring and respectful, (and most importantly to me) be willing to keep learning. I never want to stop learning new things. This is something that drives me. This drives me to be a better education and a better caregiver. I want to know how I can be the best I can be and the most capable.

To be brutally honest, the three activities we have done in this course are the three biggest take always that I will remember and continue to use through my educator years. To start with, the business plan assignment was a great way to open up one’s eyes about everything that must be put in to place for those wishing to open a day care center somewhere down the line. I opened up an in-home preschool and have seven children, so a business plan wasn’t needed for me at the time. But doing the assignment has made me reassess many areas of my preschool and has provided the springboard for me if I ever wish to expand operations. The parent workshop was so informative to me and I will continue to use the resources for many years to come. I deal with kids that are typically 4-5 years old but learning all I did while doing the workshop will help me better understand these children and I can even incorporate many things into the children’s lives. When parents tell me that life is hectic right now and getting on a set routine seems impossible, I can provide what I learned in this class and share resources to help them get their family life back under control. Currently, I am researching infant/toddler disorders and the literature I have found will be invaluable for many years to come. Learning what disorders look like and what some signs and symptoms and behaviors are that are associated with these disorders can really take me long way in helping families when/if I have a child in my preschool and I begin to notice that some things may be a little off.

Why is it important to have all sex and gender identities represented in government? Do not just think male and female go beyond this. One month has gone by since P&G pulled all of its SK-II products off of the shelves in China as a result of the public relations disaster surrounding the luxury skin care line. Top management recently met to decide how to minimize the damage caused by the crisis, how to move forward, and how to use the lessons learned from the experience to prevent future entanglements with such negative consequences. At the conclusion of this meeting, you were asked to prepare a written report and a 10-minute oral announcement for presentation to managers and employees throughout the company. The purpose of the report is to summarize the discussion and decisions made by top management. The announcement is intended to communicate P&G’s strategy for re-entering the Chinese cosmetics market and to share methods the company will employ to improve crisis management in the future.

Your report should include the following content:

1. Describe the negative consequences of recent events.

2. Discuss P&G’s errors in judgment and missteps throughout the crisis.

3. Identify environmental factors in the company’s favor to justify reentry into the market.

B&M should stand by their decision. No restrictions are placed on the women in the United States because this nation has laws in place that prevent this type of inequality. But look how long it has taken and how much more this nation is trying to improve. Women have fought tirelessly in this country for the opportunity to have a company like B&M employ 50% of their partners as women. This did not happen overnight. The fact of the matter is that many countries are not as progressive as the United States. Men are still looked at as dominant and, in many places, women do not even have basic rights. So, if a trend has been noticed, then how can you expect a company to not make the necessary adjustments? It is unrealistic for the National Organization for Women to expect a company to force their way into an international deal when the other countries are not receptive and then feel disrespected because a woman is included in this process.

Unfortunately, this is “a gray area” and “the system is unfair” but “when in Rome, do as the Romans do.” The facts of this situation are that women working for this company are not being discriminated against in The United States however, in other countries they do not allow women to do business. Technically, YES, it is legal. From a female executive perspective, it may seem unfair but from the company perspective it eliminates any negativity from the other country. So YES, it is balanced. Lastly, how does it make me feel? As a CEO, manager etc. knowing that we could go into a deal without hostility, disrespect or disgust I would feel good about this decision. Women executives could still work nationally and internationally just not in countries that it is, essentially, illegal. The company will have a better shot getting the deal closed in those areas and the other country will not feel disrespected. Overall, from a business position the ethics should be to only allow women into country negotiations that don’t pose a threat to their safety and that allow women to actually be a part of the process.”
