For example, I set goals for myself on what is needed to be completed for the day and I will push myself to meet or exceed these goals. Knowing names and titles is a potential vulnerability because if you cannot remember the name of the person that you are meeting with or work with, they will see you as being disrespectful. Also, not knowing someone’s name can be embarrassing. I have had co-workers come over to ask me a question but I have a hard time remembering their name and position within the company. Because I work at a company that has many different departments that have to work together, I am focusing on remembering who everyone is. Posting #2 is  I would have to say a strength of mine from the list above is Telephone calls. I have to say this actually use to be my weakness! I have worked in Public Relations now for 3 years and I am constantly on the phone. For my job I have to go out and try to “partner” with local businesses. Not only that, but I also call our patients a month after they are discharged to check on them and make sure that they had a positive experience. Needless to say, I had to become comfortable on the phone. A way I accomplished that was by rehearsing my responses before I ever made the call. Now, they weren’t going to be the same responses to everyone but it gave me a format to follow that way I was never caught off guard!   A weakness of mine is definitely names. I am the worst at remembering someone’s name. As I stated above, I work in Public Relations which involves meeting and talking with new people constantly. With that being said, I don’t know how anyone could remember all the names of the people I talk with. The best thing I have been trying recently is as soon as I get their name when reaching them via phone call, is write their name down. This helps me because through out the conversation I will address them by their name. Thus, making it easier to remember them. I am a huge note taker so that has helped me a lot most recently when trying to overcome this weakness.  posting #3 is  In my experience, I have found telephone communication to be one of my strengths in the workplace setting. I began to work in an office position almost three years ago and quickly became accustom to interacting with customers on the phone. Developing proper communication skills was crucial for this position. Learning how to accurately understand what the customer wants, and how to clearly convey information back to them were the most important aspects in day-to-day activity. Also, when leaving voice mails it is important to insure that all pertinent information is included for the recipient. Responding to a voicemail in a timely manner is important as well.  My skills in face to face communication are probably my weakest of the four listed above. I listen and process information very well, but when it comes to confidently speaking my mind and being assertive I’m rather apprehensive. Although listening is a good skill to have, I feel as if I’m listening too much and not contributing to the conversation, especially if I am not well versed on the topic of discussion.

I would like for you to research the advantages and disadvantages of using digital communication media (email, text messaging, social media, chats, etc.) instead of traditional face-to-face communication.  In other words, what are the positive and negative effects of using digital media to communicate with others instead of traditional forms of communication?  Final Research Papers should be 6-8 pages, double-spaced, 1″ margins, and 12pt font.  Papers should contain a minimum of 3 references in the bibliography.
