Sixty-nine percent of Americans blame the Internet and social media as the cause – not surprising given that one in four have experienced cyberbullying or incivility online”. Complete a web search to find a cartoon or advertisement in the popular media that conveys an image or message related to sexuality and older people. Examine the medium’s portrayal of sexuality in older adults by answering the following questions. Also, attach or provide the url of your cartoon or advertisement with your assignment submission. Make sure that you choose a cartoon that will provide ample information for you to write about. Using a minimum of 1000 words, answer the following questions. Be sure to use two references, other than your media item, to support your work. Your assignment should include the components below: Explain why communication is essential in an organization. Explain the ways that effective communication improves employee trust and engagement. Focus on comparing/contrasting two types of channels or techniques (e.g., on-site meetings, employee surveys, workshops). Explain the types of situations where each channel or technique would be most effective. Provide examples and facts for your audience. Avoid simply offering an opinion; rely on valid, academic research. APA format should be used. The assignment should be a minimum of three pages in length. This 2-4 page paper will allow you to choose your own text/movie/game/book/etc and do an analysis using the interpersonal communication concepts from the course. The analysis exams should have provided a nice introduction to this kind of assignment. Just instead of short a 1-paragraph response, it will be a full highly-polished paper. But the essence is very similar. Likewise, your concept cards should help you find concepts that can help elucidate/explain/understand the text better, but you don’t necessarily have to use them. All in all, the paper should be 2-4 pages (12pt font, double spaced, Times New Roman), and you should cite at least two concepts in our course text. For example, you can look at the “relationships” in Super Mario Bros. (e.g., how the game starts with everyone trying to kill Mario, how the only female character needs to be saved, etc.). For another example, you can look at conflict styles in The Office, taking either a look at the entire show as a whole, or a close reading of a specific episode or scene. You could analyze your favorite show, what you’re currently watching, a movie you hate, a book you love, a particularly interesting song, and so forth.
