I want to argue that even though it had some beneficial effects (mention them), it is also affected black communities and others in detrimental ways. It authorized the death penalty, imposed mandatory life sentences, etc. This affected black communities because it took fathers out of the equation, out of the household. As patient safety concerns continue to be addressed in the health care settings, nurses can play an active role in implementing safety improvement measures and plans. Jack T. is 22 years of age, unmarried, and unemployed. David Crary (2008) noted that in the United States, the fifty states spent more than $49 billion on corrections. The rate of increase in prison costs was six times greater than for higher education spending.  Another striking statistic provided in the first chapter is that one in 30 men between the ages of 20 and 34 are behind bars, which makes the United States the world’s incarceration leader.  For black males in the same age group the figure is one in nine.
