The focus of Malala’s message is that an education is worth dying for; what is Malala’s perspective of education? How is that perspective the same or different from how we, in America, view education? What might Malala think about our understanding of education? Is her only goal to get a job? 2. All throughout the telling of her story, Malala clearly identifies with her homeland: “so I was born a proud daughter of Pakistan, though like all Swatis I thought of myself first as Swati and then Pashtun, before Pakistani”. In what ways does identifying ourselves with our homeland open up opportunities? In what ways can it limit us? 3. Malala demonstrates an overwhelming sense of courage in the face of adversity. Discuss how Malala reacts to challenges she faces, as well as the challenges to Swat and Pakistan. How do her peers react? What gives them strength? 4. Malala and her father have a very unique and close relationship. Think of someone in your life how has become a mentor. How did they inspire you?

Describe  3 learnings that you took away from reading the two articles  by summarizing briefly the important learning and explaining how it might inform your choices of books or approach to using books with children in the classroom.

Watch the PBS segment on Georgia’s segregation of students with disabilities. Write a 1–2 page paper in which you address the following: What might be the state of Georgia’s rationale for this practice? Also read Sustainable e-Learning: Toward a Coherent Body of Knowledge, as the authors investigate possible approaches towards sustainable teaching and learning in the higher education sector. Finally, view the media piece,Anatomy of eLearning: Conceptual Framework, in this module’s Learning Resources with a focus on the “Sustainability” (bottom right) section.  Then, reflect on a course that you have recently taken and completed or a course that you have recently taught, and consider the sustainability of its design Post the Following: Deconstruct the design and delivery of the course you selected. Then, analyze the level of sustainability of the course. Finally, explain whether the course is sustainable or not—providing reasons to support your position. In your explanation, be sure to describe the sustainable elements in the course or describe specific strategies you would use to make course elements more sustainable.
