As we think about the importance of a person being set apart to accomplish a public purpose such as a principal, teacher, doctor, accountant, policeman, and etc., we would do well to keep in mind that good ethical behavior is a leadership must. In fact, we don’t look kindly on the exceptions. Perhaps this is because we depend on others to abide rules of good ethical behavior just as they depend on us. Most of us do not violate rules of good behavior or ignore laws or public policy set forth to help assure that we may enjoy a safe orderly society. While we may reserve the right to grouse about rules, policy or the law few of us knowingly seek to evade our responsibilities.  We trust. We trust our neighbor, accountant, banker, attorney and the pilot of our plane. Experience may make us cautious concerning human failure and those exceptions when our trust might have been shaken. But that is the point: these are exceptions. When taking on the role of school leadership, we become something more than ourselves. We carry the dreams and the hopes people have for our children.  This is worth keeping in mind as we prepare and work toward providing effective leadership in our school, community and nation. The bottom line is: As a principal we must be fully committed to setting and demonstrating high standards of ethical behavior in our school and community.   Answer the following questions: How effective is the leadership in your school with regard to setting and abiding high standards of ethical behavior for all concerned?  What role does ethical behavior play in garnering public trust, and support for the school? Issues in early childhood are vast and constantly changing. Your task is to write a brief research paper designed to go into greater depth about either a topic already discussed in the course or the presentation of an issue in early childhood education not already discussed in the course. You will have to make an argument about why this topic is an issue and provide references for an outsider to access greater information. Your paper should be between three?five pages in length and include the following information: • Topic description. Provide current information about the topic you have chosen. •  Issue argument. Discuss why the topic is an “issue” in early childhood – what are the concerns/arguments that are currently in early childhood. • Current positions. Given your topic, what are arguments made on either “side” of the issue. • Online references. Provide at least 3 online references that could be useful to an outsider reviewing this “issue.” Make sure you cite your statements. America faces a variety of issues. Firstly, many public schools face the challenge of insufficient funding from the administration. The governments, in many states, do not increase funding depending on the needs of the institution. As a result, the public schools in lower-income areas have fewer teachers, resources, and programs that affect the learning of the students compared to those in private schools. Secondly, the educational curriculum in the US emphasizes on the use of standardized testing to gauge the performance of the students. However, the pressure of standardized testing affects students by creating anxiety, fatigue, and lack of attention, affecting students’ performance. Similarly, teachers shift from teaching to impart knowledge and promote creativity to teach students to pass tests that have lowered the quality of education they provide. Thirdly, America also faces the challenge of declining the safety of children in schools. Reports of gun violence in schools are not new in America, causing at least 163 deaths in 2018. Such statements have instilled fears among students regarding their safety, which has affected learning.

Social, Emotional, and Intellectual Research Paper ESOL D1S1 Rationale:  Early Childhood Education emphasizes the development of the whole child: Social, Emotional and Intellectual (SEI). Some educators emphasize the intellectual domain, neglecting social and emotional development. Student learning is enhanced when teachers incorporate SEI into planning and implementation of curriculum. Knowing what you now know about Qualitative and Quantitative research how would you develop a methodology that incorporates both methods -commonly called mixed-methods? Performance Assessment- Students demonstrate their abilities in a multitude of ways. Some will demonstrate mastery on written assessments while others will shine during projects, presentations, or artistic expression. How can students prove their mastery of your chosen standard in an alternative form? Create a performance assessment for your students. This will consist of three (3) parts: teacher copy (GRASPS and planning), interesting student copy (should grab students’ attention and make them excited to complete the assignment), and a rubric (used for scoring and explaining various levels of completion). As you begin to plan, remember that not all students are the same. Work to incorporate choice into the assignment. This will also help the student create ownership of the assignment.
