Biomedical Engineering

medical science or Biomedical engineering I’d like to get an inventional type of research paper as they are way easier to be published. I would be interested in a review paper also not just inventional. And are you capable of running simulations and mathematical software? I am not exactly sure maybe COMSOL. but it depends on the topic.

Bridge Rehabilitation Contract

AMCE Construction was awarded a contract by State DOT for a bridge rehabilitation contract.  The contract required a three-phase removal and replacement of an existing concrete bridge deck that carried an interstate highway.  The contract incorporated DOT standard specifications which included a concrete mix for Class AAA concrete.  Specifications also required that Class AAA concrete achieve compressive strengths of 3,600 PSI after 7 days and 4,500 PSI after 28 days. The project proceeded and after 7 days, concrete test cylinders from Phase I failed to meet compressive strength.  The State DOT then ordered the contractor to remove and replace the concrete.  Phases II and III also failed to meet strength requirements; however, the DOT did not assess penalties because it deemed the strength of the concrete high enough to safely support traffic loads.  ACME construction sued State DOT to recover additional costs resulting from the tear-out and replacement of the concrete on the bridge deck. ACME Construction argued that it had followed the mix requirements of the State DOT specifications and cited an earlier state case in addition to the case of United States v. Spearin, a 1918 United States Supreme Court case.  Both of these cases (known as the “Spearin Doctrine”0 stands for the proposition that a contractor will not be responsible for the results if it completely followed the plans and specifications. State DOT specifications also required that the concrete be maintained at a specific temperature during curing and that proper moisture be maintained to allow for continued hydration during the curing process.  ACME Construction elected to comply with the curing requirements by the use of wet burlap wraps.  There was evidence during discovery to indicate that the burlap wraps may have dried out during the curing process. Should ACME Construction be able to recover its additional costs resulting from tear-out and replacement on the bridge deck?

Thermodyamics Principles

In this course, you will be required to write a term paper on application of thermodynamic principles to an existing or emerging technology. You may select a topic from the list below or choose your own topic with prior approval. You may research the topic in journals, books, or online. The paper must be written in your own words. Anyone who plagiarizes materials will be subject to severe disciplinary action. Length: 5 pages (excluding the title page, figures, and references) Size: 12 points font, double spaced, 8 1?2 x 11 paper with 1-inch borders Due to date: the last class date before the final exam. Topics: • Seismic Isolator • Magnetic Cooling • Microwave Oven • Magnetic Resonance Imaging • Pressure Cooker • Magnetic Levitation • Ink-Jet Printing • Superconductivity and/or Superfluidity • Hydrogen-Powered Vehicles • Fuel Cells • Photovoltaic Cells • Solar Power Satellite • Thermoelectrics • Thermoacoustics • Renewable energy To help you are writing the term paper, I want to give a typical format for it: Title Abstract Introduction Topic Connection between topic and thermodynamics Summary References The topic should be relevant to thermodynamics. You may research the topic in journals, books,

Privacy and Security

This week covered how privacy and security align with IG. I want you to research articles from any company from 2015 until now on how they implemented their Privacy and Security Policy for their organization.  Identify the  areas you feel were beneficial to the organization and identify areas they could have improved on.  Make sure you identify how IG was incorporated into the article.

Material Testing

Throughout the semester we have mentioned the many different governing ASTM standards associated with material testing. One such test that we performed in the lab was related to ASTM C143 “Standard Test Method for Slump of Hydraulic-Cement Concrete.” Quite often the testing procedure from the ASTM standard has been simplified and included as the procedure in the textbook (Somayaji, Civil Engineering Materials). For this problem, review the actual ASTM standard and compare it to the simplified procedure covered on page 208 of the materials textbook (CON-1: Slump Test of Portland Cement). What are the similarities and difference between the actual ASTM C143 standard and the procedure outlined in CON-1? Are there any items removed in the simplified procedure that is discussed in the actual standard? Be sure to give specifics.

NIMBY

NIMBY  is a concept that describes the negative attitudes against a project that benefits the greater community. This mentality is one in which even though people are generally supportive of a project that will benefit the greater community, they don’t want to suffer the burden of bearing the cost(s) of the project. In terms of power generation, one of  the biggest reasons against power plants, especially wind farms, is  “visual intrusion.” Opponents of projects like these don’t want an eyesore as well as any noise, negative impacts on wildlife and displaced agricultural land. Something else to consider is whether or not the project will have an effect on property values which can serve to bolster NIMBY sentiment. Having this mindset affects power delivery in that residents are forgoing access to more reliable power in favour of maintaining aesthetics or reasons like those listed above.  This attitude halts progress and can ultimately waste money if proposed projects in an area where they have to jump through hoops to get local approval. Look at the  Cape Wind Project for example, which was initially proposed in 2001 but died by litigation 16 years and 100 million dollars later. Boyle, K. J., Boatwright, J., Brahma, S., & Xu, W. (2019). NIMBY, not, in siting community wind farms. Resource and Energy Economics, 57, 85–100. https://doi.org/10.1016/j.reseneeco.2019.04.004

Professional Project Report

Write a professional project report presenting all details and results for their design. The report must include the Cover page (project title and complete names of all team members). A “Frame of Reference” section covering: Introduction, Design motivation, How the product works, Discussion of the design (strengths, weaknesses, manufacturing considerations, estimated cost, potential customers, potential competitors), Conclusions, Summary of results achieved, Concluding remarks, Lessons learned, Areas of improvement, References, Books, journal papers or other work cited, Appendices: Analysis results (limiting positions, velocities, accelerations, forces) presented clearly on plots or tables, CAD drawings showing all dimensions and tolerances of all geometric features of each component, Material used for each component and reasoning for material selection, Views of the 3D model, Screenshots of the animation at various points in the range of motion, Other appendices as needed. The project is to design, model, and analyze a mechanism using synthesis and analysis tools. Another objective is for students to use 3D CAD mechanism software to perform modeling and analysis of their mechanism of choice. Project requirements are listed below. All project requirements must be met in order to consider the project a success and obtain a passing grade: The subject of the project must be a machine or a mechanism that performs a specific task or function in a real-world application. It must include a six-bar (or higher) linkage. Cams, gears, and belts are desirable. It must be powered by a crank (motor) or a dyad crank. It must have an industrial application.
