The readings and learning activities for this week have focused on core values, their origins, and the role that they play in our society and in our professional and personal lives. For this essay, you will reflect on the readings and the class discussions on core values. In this essay you will identify and explain 3-5 of your core values. You will also discuss the origins of these core values. Include an introductory paragraph, where you grab the reader’s attention, provide a transitional statement, give a clear thesis statement, and map out the 3-5 key points that will support your thesis. Include 3-5 body paragraphs where you include details and examples to help you develop and support your key points. End your essay with a concluding paragraph where you restate your thesis, summarize your key points, and leave the reader with the “so what?” Your paper should be written according to the standards for academic writing, with attention to the following: punctuation: this includes things such as recommended use of commas, colons, and apostrophes. word-level accuracy: this includes things such as capitalization, spelling, word-tense, and usage. sentence-level accuracy: this includes things such as sentence boundaries, subject-verb agreement, and pronoun-antecedent agreement. Take time to proofread after you’ve written your essay. Think about the kinds of writing mistakes you tend to make (like using “text-speak” or sentence fragments) and watch out for those. Reading your paper aloud is a good way to catch any mistakes. Your paper should include a header consisting of your name and the assignment name and a title that reflects your specific essay focus. (See example below.) Your paper should be typed, double-spaced and in 11 or 12-point font. Your final product should be a minimum of five paragraphs (about 700-1000 words) in length. However, the quality of the content of this essay is most important. Be sure to fully answer the prompt.

Crucially, the UK prime minister needs to anticipate the sources of support and opposition to this new policy program and asks you to help him/her in this task. Discuss and elaborate on the elements and models that you would use in order to help the UK prime minister. 4. The chart below shows the time evolution of average tariffs applied by the US on imports from China of both final and intermediate goods. Explain the general relationship between trade and tariffs. Elaborate on the likely consequences of a rise in both final and intermediate goods tariffs, while highlighting the differences between the two tariffs in their effects on the structure of US-China trade and the implications on welfare for both countries. Read the rules. The rules fit on one page, though—full disclosure—the type is small and the text is in columns, so if all the content were printed out in normal paragraph form, this might be two or three pages. Still, this isn’t much. The rules won’t necessarily make complete sense to you. They’re sort of just thrown onto the page as a succession of stipulations, and there are few examples or illustrations of how the game is played. Still, read these through. YOU WILL BE TEMPTED. This temptation will take the form of skimming the reading or skipping it entirely. Alas, a number of you will give into this temptation. If you do give in, then when, later on, you’re trying to figure out what’s going on because you’re “so lost,” do not be shocked when I very quickly figure out that you didn’t read the rules. It’s one page, so read them. Step 2 Summarize two things here. A) How to create a character based upon these rules. You will have to read carefully. This means reading slowly. Don’t rush, skim, skip, skitter, leaf, flutter, or glance through the rules. As you read, try to piece together what is being said in order to form an idea of how the game is played. Again, you’ve seen an example, so you know some things now. Apply that knowledge to this reading exercise. Summarize for someone else how you would go about creating a character based upon what you’ve seen and what these rules say. B) How to resolve combat. For this summarization imagine a single character (it might be a good idea to create one, for example) would resolve a battle with another character. Take us step-by-step through the example combat. Step 3 Now, go through two other comments and correct any errors you spot. If you don’t see any errors, but there are maybe small points or distinctions in the rules that you are wondering about or want to comment on, then go ahead and do so. The comments should be insightful. See what points you can make, or what improvements to understanding you can offer. Avoid comments like “Good job” or “Wow, you’ve really summarized the rules here” or anything else that wishes it were a useful comment, but isn’t.

Your literary analysis essay will be on the novel Sula by Toni Morrison.
