This needs to be a literacy narrative about “myself” detailing my path to reading and writing and/ or the impact that reading and writing has had on my life. **This can be taken from your own personal experiences or it can be made up, as long as it sounds good!** The organization of the paper will depend on the focus you want the essay to take. If you write about “my” experiences becoming literate, you might take a narrative approach, detailing “my” first experiences in school or the first time reading and writing seemed to make a big impact on my life. In writing from this perspective, you will need a clear introduction that establishes the story you plan on telling, strong transitions and chronologically organized paragraphs that put the overall story together. It should address this question: What ultimate impact did those early experiences have on the reader/ writer you are today? If you focus more on particular texts or experiences of reading and writing and how they have impacted “my” life, you should structure the essay in a more subject-by-subject manner. The introduction would establish that you are writing about significant moments where literacy or particular texts impacted “my” life and why those moments are important. The body paragraphs would be organized around these moments and would explain what they were and why they are important. This should address how those particular moments or texts changed they way “I” read or address writing today.
