Choose any film and write a essay based on Corrigan’s “six approaches to writing about film”. Talk through the range of ways you could approach a particular text.

After reading the play Angels in America (PART 1: Millennium Approaches) found in your text book, respond to ONE of the following questions with a thorough 800-1,000 word response. So just read the play. Who is the protagonist of Angels in America? Why? How does or does not this individual (or individuals) fit into the Aristotelian concept of a tragic hero? Choose one meta-narrative (ie. Marriage, the American Dream, political structures, etc.) that Tony Kushner engages in the play. Describe the traditional view of the meta-narrative and then describe how Kushner questions and complicates it. Kushner uses a variety of postmodern aesthetic choices, what are some ways that Kushner blends styles in the structure of the play? Describe three examples where he attempts get the audience to “see themselves seeing”? What should they be reacting to? Why?

For this paper, I need an overview of the filmography of Luis García Berlanga. The major works that need to be presented and analyzed are ‘Bienvenido, Mr. Marshall’ (1953), ‘Plácido’ (1961), ‘El verdugo’ (1963), and ‘La escopeta nacional’ (1978). I advise to also include the rest of his filmography, but with less emphasis. Please, make sure to analyze different themes and stress how Berlanga created sharped and humorous portraits of Spain in those decades.

Please explore online (on YouTube or Vimeo, for example) for a new movie clip from any film at all through history which you feel displays a good example of a moment which demonstrates the  Camera style, technique, or approach by the creators that matches a clip /scene from the movie Citizen Kane ( 1941 )  Explain why you chose that particular clip and how it demonstrates similarities to the Citizen Kane’s clip you chose.  Mention the creators (director, actor, character names) when exploring specific films. Please refer the youtube links to the particular scenes and not trailers of the movie at the bottom of of the page.

This is a compare and contrast research paper between the Bronx Tale movie AND the broadway play. In 10 pages (in addition to a one page bibliography with sources cited CHICAGO STYLED), the similarities and differences of the movie and play need to be talked about.  Some of these similarities and differences should include research about how the production of the play as well as the music was different from that of the movie. You can also talk about how the music in the movie and play reflected certain characters. The music of the play and the movie should also be compared being that the movie had its own soundtrack with songs from bands/artists from the 60’s and 70’s. Bamboozled (2000, R; 135 min.), directed and written by Spike Lee, photographed by Ellen Kuras and starring Damon Wayans, Shavion Glover, Jada Pinkett Smith and Michael Rapaport.  Bamboozled is Spike Lee’s comedy released in 2000 which was at the time—and still remains — his most acrid, ironic and profoundly satirical cinematic statement on the state of racism in America at the turn of the millennium. Spike Lee went through over 10 studios before he found someone that would finance the film. Bamboozled begins with the definition of satire. Spike Lee told Charlie Rose in an interview that he put that there specifically for the critics as many times they interpret his films as an angry commentary on society. But, the film is a commentary on the reality that television and performance arts have willingly distorted the identity of black people with minstrel shows, cartoons and cliche performances of black people in order to make people laugh.
