1. Choose a current policy challenge in public budgeting. Pick a topic that concerns budgeting issues at the national, state, or local level.  You may write about a budgeting challenge that we addressed in class, but be warned: your memo should go beyond the class discussion for that topic. If you are not sure whether your topic is appropriate, feel free to run it by me via email or during office hours. 2. Explain the budgeting challenge and why it is important. Provide at least some background on the issue to help the reader (me) follow your argument. Make the case that this issue is important enough to warrant some action, even with all the other fiscal problems currently out there. 3. Provide concrete advice to a senior policymaker on how to meet this challenge. Address your memo to a specific senior policymaker in a government organization. Provide 2-3 policy options for meeting the challenge your memo describes, and make the case for your one preferred option. Only propose options that are feasible or reasonable (i.e., don’t suggest entirely eliminating Social Security or doubling the federal income tax). I am looking for your own critical analysis of the policy issue, but using arguments and theories of other scholars is a useful starting point. Make sure that you clearly take a position on the best response to this policy issue. On the other hand, you must do more than just provide your opinion! Use facts and findings to support your analysis and conclusions. Spend time thinking about how best to organize your paper. Write clearly and concisely and make sure you proofread. Make sure you are clear in your analysis and policy recommendation. The policy memo should be 3-5 pages of double-spaced text (not including the bibliography), using a standard 12-point font and 1-inch margins. You can use whatever citation style you prefer, but you must cite your sources.

·      450-500 words  ·      Ideas and citations from ALL the readings, articles, and notes attached   1.     Apply concepts related to governance in a specific, researched public administration case study. Whatever source is used for the actual case study must focus on a real-world public administration situation that is being discussed and analyzed in the chosen article.  The article can be qualitative or quantitative in nature, but it must specifically focus on the public administration context.  Remember to synthesize your research and findings with the required readings and presentations for this week and a Biblical/covenantal model of statesmanship, leadership and organizational behavior.

SOCIAL CAPITAL EXERCISE You will need to read the Bowling Alone article by Robert Putnam. Next, read the list of “100 Things You Can Do to Increase Social Capital, as well as the student examples found in the “Social Capital” folder. You will need to select one of these social capital activities in order to begin constructing your paper. In selecting your activity, here are a couple of items to note: You may select an activity that you have completed in the past, but you MUST complete the activity again during this semester for purposes of this assignment. In addition, due to social distancing, there are plenty of activities you can complete that still fulfill an activity in the light of social capital – that is, FaceTime, Zoom, Skype, etc. with a friend; reaching out to an old friend via email, phone call, text, etc. Be creative in the light of social distancing. Successful Social Capital Papers: Papers will be graded on activity selection, format, grammar, style, content delivery, analysis, and general quality. Overall, your professor needs to see: 1). Introduction – discuss why you chose a particular activity or activities; 2). Body – in essence, this portion of the paper will be more of a reflection paper. You will reflect on the activity as you were participating and completing it; and 3). Conclusion – discuss how it impacted or affected you as well as other individuals and society. Lastly, in the conclusion, you will need to illustrate your understanding of social capital as presented by Putnam. In order to grasp the concept(s) from Putnam, you should be referencing and briefly citing him throughout the entire paper, but especially in the conclusion.

There are four major challenges facing the next president, whether Donald Trump remains in office or Joe Biden replaces him as the 46th president of the United States. The year 2020 has seen an unprecedented number of catastrophic events, including a worldwide pandemic that has taken close to 200,000 American lives and a record number of natural disasters, including hurricanes and wildfires that have burned over 3.7 million of acres of land in California. These events have taken their toll on the economy; over 30 million are out of work. They have also placed huge burden’s on the nation’s infrastructure, its health system, and educational institutions nationwide.At the same time, there are other pressing issues confronting the nation. The national healthcare system implemented during the Obama administration has been under fire and the reforms promised by the Trump administration have yet to see the light of day. Climate change—which has been determined to be a crucial factor in the California fires and the increase in the number of weather-related disasters—is also a major challenge that will be a priority for the incoming administration.For the purposes of this assignment, the issue is not who will be president, although you will have to consider the political ramifications for undertaking any of these challenges. My research paper will examine and analyze the Parsley Massacre in the Dominican Republic, this tragic event affected the country socially, politically, and economically. In my research I will discuss and exemplify how one genocide can cause a country to change and leave a lasting imprint on its people and culture. I will use several sources from published interviews of those who witnessed the event, national databases and historical texts. My paper will focus on colorism (social aspect), economic repercussions of the genecide, and the political changes that caused and followed the genocide.

Actually I have to write paper about marijuana policy. The topic of the paper is, “Should marijuana policy be set by the states or by the federal government?” the purpose of the papers is to get you to reflect on both sides of a debate and then present your own views, informed by outside research and evidence (at least 3 outside sources required).
