Catholic Sacrament Of Ordination
Please read the three short excerpts in the attached PDF. The first two are from Luther’s works, and the third is from a short pamphlet by Barclay. Answer the following questions as best as you can by referring to these texts: 1. In “Of Orders,” Luther is talking about the Catholic holy sacrament of “Ordination.” This is where a man is made into a priest. All high members of the Catholic Church were in fact priests, as they still are today. What importance does Luther put on this sacrament, and how does he criticize it? 2. In “The Papacy at Rome,” Luther is responding to a Catholic theologian who had already attacked Luther! That theologian had been rather rude and he had attacked not just Luther’s religious arguments, but he had also attacked Luther personally. How does Luther respond to this personal attack? Is Luther at all insulting or sarcastic? 3. Robert Barclay was a member of a small Protestant Christian sect in England, the Quakers. They were/are certainly Christian, but their understanding of religious authority (The Bible, for example) is unique among Protestants. Does Barclay believe that the Bible is the ultimate source for God’s word, or is there another source that supersedes it?

Challenges For Women In America
The reading — a chapter from a book written by historian Stephanie Coontz — highlights the restrictions placed on women following World War II that drove many to launch a Women’s Movement. For this reflection, discuss at least three of these restrictions (keeping in mind that not all states were alike), explaining the actual restrictions and how (whenever applicable) they limited a woman’s ability to find work, remain unmarried (or get divorced), or live a life of her choosing. Conclude your reflection by analyzing whether these three restrictions remain in some form in the United States. (reading is a pdf attached to upload files)

Answer this question with analysis of primary sources related to the American and French Revolutions and relevant sources from the Enlightenment and English Constitutionalism. The essay should be 500-750 words. Incomplete list of revolutionary concepts: -The social contract (government is formed by individuals to protect fundamental rights) -Freedom of conscience and expression -Popular sovereignty (the “people” rather than ruler possesses ultimate governing power) -Meritocracy (status and power based on ability rather than blood or lineage) //////////////////////////// Letter grades will be assigned as follows: A : Essay is well written and well organized with only minor spelling and grammar errors. It demonstrates a strong command of the relevant course material, responds directly to the prompt, has a clear and compelling thesis, solid evidence in the form of well-chosen and appropriately cited quotations and specific references to the requested source(s), robust analysis, logical reasoning, and meets the target length. B : Essay demonstrates a solid command of the relevant course material and responds to the prompt yet has at least one significant flaw in the quality of writing, organization, historical accuracy, logical reasoning, use of evidence, citations, or length. History Of Immigration To The United States
This is a speech that I have to write and record, I will record it after you have written it but these are the full instructions. Thanks, let me know if you need anything else. Purpose: Following your larger picture reflection of immigration in America between 1880 and 1940, you are now examining the immigration restrictions Congress passed in 1921 and 1924. This assessment is intended to acquaint you with the issue of immigration and nativism in America in the decade of the 1920s. This unit’s assignments will build your skills in interpreting Congressional documents and census data and hone your ability to analyze that information. Task: It is 1926 and you are running for a seat in the U.S. House of Representatives from Georgias 99th Congressional District. You are scheduled to deliver a speech to the voters of your district in which you outline your position on the issue of immigration, specifically on the 1921 and 1924 laws and their effects in America. Prepare and record a 5-minute speech in which you clearly outline your position on the 1921 and 1924 immigration laws (for or against) and explain why you take that position. Support your explanations with details and analysis, do not simply explain the provisions of the laws. Focus Topics/Questions These questions are not to be answered directly in your speech, they are provided only to stimulate your thinking on the issue. ? What are the immigration restrictions in the 1921 immigration law (Emergency Quota Act)? ? What are the immigration restrictions in the 1924 immigration law (National Origins Act)? ? How do the restrictions differ between the two laws? ? Do the laws affect immigration from Europe and Asia equally? ? When do those restrictions take effect? ? Does your speech support the 1921 and 1924 laws? Why or why not? ? What factors did you consider when staking out your position on immigration? ? From what country and when did your own ancestors arrive in America? ? How many immigrants live in Georgias 99th District? ? What position does each of the major political parties take on immigration? ? How does the immigration issue fit into the cultural conflict of the 1920s? To assist in drawing your conclusion about immigration refer to chapters 23 and 24 in the textbook, the 1921 law, the 1924 law, and the Population Division and Population Characteristics and Migration excerpts with which you’ve already worked. Criteria on which you will be graded: 1) clearly taking a position and explaining why you take that position; 2) the clarity of your speech; 3) using the 5 minutes appropriately; 4) the logic and coherence of your speech; 5) well-thought-out, respectful responses to at least 2 of your classmates. Please see the audio recording hints handout to ensure you submit a good, clear recording. Upload the recording of your speech to the Discussion topic by the due date. Respond to at least two of your classmates’ speeches.
Diversity In History
Over the past two weeks, our readings and discussions have been focused on establishing a baseline for understanding diversity. In this module, well begin our tour through the four lenses, beginning with history. As we dive into the four lenses, keep in mind that each lens is framed as a way of seeing the issue and is not necessarily tied to the associated discipline. So, looking through the historical lens isnt just about History Channel documentariesits also about how you use the lens to understand the past and present. As you write your initial post, answer the following questions: In what ways does looking through the history lens enhance your understanding of diversity? Consider a current event in the news that has a historical counterpart. How does looking through the history lens influence how you perceive both the current and historical events? Please share a news link to your events. How does analyzing the relationship between history, culture, and diversity have an influence on your discipline of study or chosen profession? Please use APA Citation
