Recently, Green Branch Coffee mangers have approached you with questions regarding the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), the Age Discrimination in Employment Act (ADEA), the Equal Pay Act (EPA), and the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). Option #1: Case Study Analysis: Social Benefit or Social Disaster? Read and respond to a case study to demonstrate your understanding of, and ability to apply, the most important concepts of the module, especially regarding the potential pitfalls of communication media. Review a case study of Twitter in the 10th edition of the course textbook attached in the Module 5 folder. Strategies and elements of a crisis plan should be reviewed periodically to ensure they are up to date and to add possible solutions learned from recent crisis experiences. Evaluating a crisis plan typically involves examination of what went right and what went wrong. Changes that evolve from the evaluation process can include changes in leadership that result from failure to execute strategies and/or legal and ethical issues. Responding procedures may undergo changes because even what went right may be improved upon or expanded. Furthermore, resources may be updated because they are usually problematic for implementing any plan, particularly for a disaster of enormous scope. Financial considerations may be evaluated as well. National, state, and local foundations and government agencies/departments may respond to revisions by providing resources in the form of grants to individuals or organizations. Plans and grants should continually be reviewed and renewed through this cycle of analysis. By Day 4 Post an explanation of the following: Based on your evaluation of strategies and the situation in the Hurricane Katrina natural disaster, explain which strategies you would use and why. Based on your analysis of the Mississippi crisis plan, explain elements of the plan that might be relevant or applicable to surrounding states.

Individual assignment – Choice of two, COMBINED 2000 words One “AL (Authentic Leadership) posits that a truly authentic leader must have a developed and internalized moral perspective, self-awareness, transparency in their dealings with others, and a balanced processing approach, where the leader is able to solicit feedback from subordinates and considers that feedback, even if it contradicts the leader’s own views and preferences” (Dickson and Biermeier-Hanson, 2014: 3). Critically evaluate the publicly reported efforts of one world or business leader with respect to their capacity to illustrate (or not, as the case may be) authentic leadership traits during the COVID-19 pandemic response. Drawing on the extant literature, discuss how their approach has assisted or hindered their leadership obligations. Two Drawing on the case of IKEA, and other business examples as appropriate, discuss and critically evaluate the challenges and benefits of an embedded integrated organisational culture within a company as it expands internationally. Discuss paying particular attention to the interplay of organisational and country culture. Three Laszlo Bock (Former SVP of People Operations at Google) suggested “it’s not the company-provided lunch that keeps people here. Googlers tell us that there are three reasons they stay: The mission, the quality of the people, and the chance to build the skill set of a better leader or entrepreneur” (Davenport et al. 2010: 57). Discuss and critically evaluate theories of motivation and job design as a method of retaining talented employees. In your answer, consider the role of organisational leadership as an influence on motivation. Four Drawing on literature about Nokia, and academic studies of organisational change and learning critically appraise Nokia’s approach to business. Drawing on current theory and examples, provide a considered recommendation to assist other organisations avoid similar challenges. Five “We use influence tactics to persuade others to do what we want them to, sometimes against their interests or preferences” (Buchanan and Huczynski, 2017: 748). Drawing on contemporary theory, critically evaluate the tactics Steve Jobs employed. Discuss his leadership approach comparing his with that of another leader that you may know of from current affairs (e.g. world leader, business leader, community leader).

Read the case, “Corning Incorporated: The Growth and Strategy Council.”  ) ·        Brainstorm the key internal and external issues with the firm’s four different operating divisions. You may collect this information into an informal SWOT analysis. ·        Then evaluate the four divisions using the Boston Consulting Group. Based on this tool, select any two specific strategies from the reading and apply and implement to better manage its divisions. You are required to choose from the following project case study, which is relatively well documented online and in textbooks:   ·        Burj Khalifa Dubai design and build   You will analyse and critique the success or failure of the project specifically in terms of its project management capability. For example, it is well known that Titanic sank on her maiden voyage, but was that a failure of project management or something else? Additional resources Engagement surveys are commonly used across many industries to provide business insight in multiple areas of the employee experience. Google has a core belief that the challenges of work should be fun.  Therefore, if you give employees the necessary tools to properly perform their jobs, they will be key contributors to the organization’s overall success. (Chapter 1, Section 2) When you look at the timeline of the history of management theory and the accompanying historical events that triggered changes in the practice of management (Chapter 3, Section 1), do you think the Google philosophy of management signals a shift in how work is managed?  Could this philosophy work in your organization?  Would you feel comfortable managing in this type of environment?
