Give a one page reflection on the religion/doctrine/idea that you learned about in this class that had the biggest impact on you or that you found most interesting. Could write about ancient Israel, Buddhism, Hinduism, Daoism, Jerusalem.

Spiritual Autobiography: 5 pages minimum. Include 10 cited references and at least 5 scholarly resources ie bible, catechism, spiritual writers, etc. The Spiritual/Religious Autobiography is an opportunity for you to reflect upon your personal spirituality and religious tradition or lack thereof. This autobiography is an opportunity for you to articulate your personal experiences and therefore to better engage what you will be learning about the Christian faith in this course.   Such an autobiography may consist of a narrative of: 1. one’s acceptance of his or her family’s or culture’s religious tradition; 2. conversion to a religious tradition; 3. having been raised in a certain tradition but not necessarily believing or practicing in the tradition; 4. not having or had any religious faith.   In any of these four scenarios (and possible others or combinations thereof), there exists one’s personal autobiography. It may be central to one’s life or on the periphery—nevertheless such a narrative exists.   Your assignment is to chronologically trace, as best you can, what you remember of your religious/spiritual experiences (positive or negative) to the present. You may include the following: facts about your place of origin (culture/nation) and how they may have influenced your religious views, family, books you have read, conversations with people, personal encounters with the sacred, rituals that you have experienced (weddings, funerals, initiation rites, meals, celebrations, etc.).   This is not to be a dry recounting of facts but a reflective interpretation of these experiences. In other words, you are to offer a comment on these various facts as you now understand them. For example, Are these memories and beliefs important for your life now, for your future – how?   Your presentation or paper will consist of: ·       The basic Presentation (approximately 20 slides) or Paper Format requirements above/1500 words or approx. Five pages ·       An introduction that explains what this presentation or paper is about ·       A central section that will chronologically recount your various experiences ·       A conclusion that will offer a personal comment on your experiences ·       Please consult Scriptures and other spiritual Writers in the development of your paper. These references can be in support of your experience or used to demonstrate another type of experience.(Minimum of 10 references).   The presentation follows the outline of student presentation with adding 10 references or The paper is to be typed with 1” margins all sides; double-spaced in 12 point font. Please be sure to include Footnotes or Endnotes. Please use MLA or Turabian format style. A works cited page is expected to include a minimum of 5 scholarly sources well beyond the scope of Wikipedia and a minimum of 10 references are to be cited within the paper.

Paul, The Bridge Between two Worlds: A theological perspective on Paul and his relationship with the Jews and Gentiles.

Research a non-profit service organization (no hands-on service involved).  Write a 3-page essay in which you address and reflect on the following questions:             What is its stated purpose of the non-profit organization you chose?            How does it fulfill its purpose?            Does this organization serve like Jesus? How so? Why not?            Use specific supporting examples from Kraybill (Upside Down Kingdom) and/or the Gospel of Matthew and/or Acts and/or the New Testament letters assigned. Be sure to also provide a link to the organization’s website and appropriate citation for information used from online sources. (900 word minimum)

Gustavo Gutierrez stated, “Theology, for it to be good theology, must be helpful. It must help the church announce the Gospel, announce Jesus in useful contemporary language. If theology is not helpful in that task, it is not theology” (Gutierrez, 58).  the hosen contemporary issue is racial reconciliation.  Please format your essay to address the following:  Introduce your chosen contemporary issue by giving a brief overview of the problem to provide context (no more than one paragraph). If there is a course material that gives context for your chosen issue, it is recommended that you use that material in your introduction. If your topic is outside of the scope of our course materials, please find a reputable source and cite it so that I can also be familiar with your chosen issue.  Then, outline how 4 thinkers from our syllabus respond directly to your chosen issue, or how their thinking might be applied to your chosen issue. You must engage with 4 distinct thinkers from the syllabus. At least 1 of these thinkers must be from the material prior to the Midterm Exam and at least 1 of these thinkers must be from the material after the Midterm Exam. The remaining 2 thinkers may be from any point in the semester.  After you have outlined the thinking of 4 distinct thinkers, analyze whether you think that their ideas are helpful to address the issue. What are the strengths/limitations of each thinker’s ideas? Please note that parts 2 and 3 should be the bulk of your essay. Give a brief conclusion to your essay. If you found the various thinkers’ ideas unhelpful for speaking to your given issue, do you have a better way forward?  Your essay should be approximately 900-1,200 words in length. Please be sure to back up your arguments with cited evidence from the texts. If you do not provide evidence from the texts or include citations, points will be deducted.

We have learned about some of the struggles that women face today as well as historically within Muslim communities and outside Muslim communities. However, we have also learned that Muslim women benefit a great deal from Islam and from within Muslim communities. In light of what we have studied this semester, what can you say about the relationship of Muslim women in the overall Islamic experience? I need an essay written but it has to use certain sources that I have received during class would it be possible to use those sources? Outside sources are not acceptable 6 pages double spaced there should be 10 different sources used consider the overall experience and not simply a one sided perspective strong pieces of evidence clearly connected to each other in support of the thesis

Throughout the Hebrew Bible, the L-rd has sought to establish Covenants with the People of Israel.  Describe each of the three major Covenants (i.e., Noahic, Mosaic and Davidic) and the biblical characters associated with each of them.  What were the obligations of the People and what did the L-rd promise in each of them?  In your opinion, are each of the Covenants still valid?   What are lessons for us today with these Covenants? Critical Review of John Bright’s The Kingdom of God (5-6 pages): A very helpful synthesis of biblical theology by a critical scholar who is basically evangelical and demonstrates a concern for the church. Prior to his death in 1995 he had spent most of his academic life as an Old Testament professor at Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, VA. In the critical review of Bright’s book, you will need to identify, summarize, and evaluate the ideas and information the author has presented. In other words, you will be examining another person’s thoughts on a topic from your point of view. The review gives the reader a concise summary of the content, a line of argument through successive chapters, and a critical assessment (strengths, weaknesses, support). Your stand must go beyond your “gut reaction” to the work and be based on your knowledge (readings, lecture, and experience) of the topic as well as on factors such as criteria stated in your assignment or discussed by you and your instructor. The review should make it clear that you understand the book and its main argument coupled with your ability to use and apply the argument beyond what you have read. Make your stand clear at the beginning of your review, in your evaluations of specific parts, and in your concluding commentary. Remember that your goal should be to make a few key points about the book or article, not to discuss everything the author writes.

Essay that covers Israel’s story, from Creation (Genesis) to the post-exilic period (Ezra-Nehemiah & Esther). A great essay will emphasize the following: God’s presence, sin, the covenants (including God’s promises, protection, and human responsibility), and holiness. In essay citation is not necessary but can be included at the end.
