Reading Analysis #2 Submit Assignment Due Sunday by 11:59pm Points 50 Submitting a file upload To assess your understanding of the reading, you are to respond to the following questions about Chapters 1, 2 and 3 (pages 3-51) in the Donaldson text How do the components of a system function? Why is purpose so important to a system thinking mindset? What does each of the tenets of systems thinking mean? What is the role of holons, circles, and loops in system thinking? Explain what Deming meant when he stated: “The appreciation of a system involved understanding how interactions between the elements of a system can result in internal restrictions that force the system to behave as a single organism that automatically seeks a steady state. This steady state determines the output of the system rather than the individual elements. Thus, it is the structure of the organization rather than the employees, alone, which holds the key to improving the quality of outputs.” Why is ‘both/and’ thinking essential to system thinking? Your responses to the set of questions should be at least 600-700 words long (3 pages) and must cover all questions assigned that week. Develop full paragraph/short theme answers as appropriate for each question. Copy the questions into a Word document and provide your thoughts for each question. Primary Task Response: Within the Discussion Board area, write 400–600 words that respond to the following questions with your thoughts, ideas, and comments. This will be the foundation for future discussions by your classmates. Be substantive and clear, and use examples to reinforce your ideas: Gordon Allport was interested in studying healthy, mature, adult personalities. Based on Allport’s 6 criteria, evaluate how you are doing on each of the attributes. Then, rank them in order of your strongest to your weakest. Address the following:  What are some areas that still need improvement? Are you a mature, healthy adult according to Allport’s definition? Do you know others who meet this definition?  Respond to the discussion questions above, and include at least 1 of the following ideas in your response:  Do you have a unifying philosophy of life? Do you agree with Allport regarding the importance of religion or a philosophy of life? What aspects of trait theory can help you better understand the individuals that you interact with on a daily basis?

Research Florida’s current statutes regarding parental liability, read the article linked below and answer the questions that follow. Should parents be responsible for the acts of their children?   Why or why not? (Please remember that while your opinion is important, it needs to be based on researched facts not anecdotes or conjecture.) Are Florida’s current laws strong enough? (Be sure to include a discussion of both relevant statutes).  If so, why?   If not, what would you add to the current legislation to make it better?

After reading Chapter 3 and 4, please respond critically to the  questions provided. Review the section on pages 55 to 56 titled, “Self-Esteem.” Review the section on pages 73 to 76 of your text that begins with the heading, “Self-Concept, Perception, and Technology.”  How much time do you spend on social media each day? What effect do you feel social networking has on a person’s self esteem? For example, “Does it make the user feel better or worse? There is a statement on page 56 in our text that says, “Self-esteem is more then just feeling good about yourself. It’s about being socially and individually responsible.” Recommend some ways to act responsibly on social media (outside source is required in the answer to this question).  The initial post must be 500 words for full credit, and each reply must be 150 words and include a question for the discussion post author. You must incorporate two textbook concepts in the initial post, using APA formatted in-text citations. You must cite at least one outside scholarly source–ebook, journal article, film, etc. and cite in APA format.

According to Marx, what about capitalism makes jobs like the ones described in the documentary Fast Food Women possible? Is alienated labor a function of low-wage labor? Worldview Paper: In this assignment, the student will attempt to answer the question “What is my worldview and how did I come to this perspective?” Questions that may be addressed in this paper are: What is prime reality—the really real? What is the nature of external reality, that is, the world around us? What is a human being? (a machine made of meat?) What happens to a person at death? Why is it possible to know anything at all? How do we know what is right or wrong? What is the meaning of human history? What personal, life-orienting core commitments are consistent with the worldview? This should be a first-person paper because it is about the student’s own philosophical perspective. There should be a least four pages of content. Though this is not a research paper, if you quote or cite any resource, you must cite the resource in an academically acceptable manner using the MLA documentation style.
