[ORDER SOLUTION] Gender Norms

This is your assignment: write an essay, 2,400 words in length, in which you put at least two works from our course in conversation on a shared topic. You could focus on character, theme, setting, symbolism, imagery, maturation, gender norms, etc. You should not use any outside sources, but be sure to include a bibliography in MLA style that lists the novels you choose. As with Paper 1, you need to include plenty of quoted evidence from the texts as you make your argument. Papers that only use paraphrases of texts as evidence will start at a grade of 75/C, reflecting average work. Your thesis statement should be active (makes a claim) and significant (answers the “so what” question). In other words, your thesis and main ideas should make a claim about the texts that could be argued and should also tell us the significance of this claim: So what if X is happening in these texts? What do we stand to learn by thinking about your claim? For example, “Ursula’s character is known for her practicality” stops short of going far enough as a thesis statement. Instead, “Although Ursula enacts very practical domestic roles in the Buendía household, ultimately Marquez reveals the haunting magic of her daily routine in her visions and imaginings such that it is hard for her to disentangle reality from illusion. This shows us an even greater tragic ending for her.” The second thesis makes an assertion about Ursula’s character in the domestic sphere, but more specifically says what we stand to learn about her: that the magical realism in her later years makes her a more tragic figure. Questions about the assignment? Please ask! Your essay should be typed in 12-point font, double-spaced, with 1-inch margins and numbered pages. If you exceed the word limit just a bit, that is fine, but your essay should be 2,400 words minimum. Be sure to give your paper an interesting title. “One Hundred Years of Solitude and Wide Sargasso Sea” is not a very specific title that leads me to want to read more! But rather, “Unexpected Meaning: The Haunting Magic of Domesticity in Wide Sargasso Sea and One Hundred Years of Solitude” is much more appealing, thought provoking, and specific. Please be sure to put your name, the course number, section number, and the date in the top left corner of the first page. The title should be centered below this information. Cover pages are not required. Keep the writing formal: no first person and write out all contractions, etc.

[ORDER SOLUTION] LGBTQ Community

People in the United States vary widely in their acceptance of the sexual and gender choices and orientations. The impact of those with views of lesser acceptance is felt the hardest by the most vulnerable among us- our children. Watch the following video of a Ft. Worth City Councilman speaking about his experiences as a young man marginalized based on his sexual orientation and consider the impact such a message would have on a young person in a similar situation and on an adult who is intolerant of the LGBTQ community. · Joel Burns: It Gets Better https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ax96cghOnY4 (transcript located on YouTube site) Compare and contrast what you believe the experiences of these two individuals (the insecure LGBTQ youth and the intolerant adult) viewing this message would be. How might it reinforce existing beliefs about themselves or motivate them to see themselves and/or the world differently? What additional information would you propose to share with either or both of these individuals to persuade them into such a paradigm shift? Write a 5-paragraph essay that includes each of the elements listed below in the grading rubric. Be sure to use at least 2 references to support your essay. James’ wife has threatened that he either get his sexual addiction under control or she is leaving the marriage. When asked about the issue, James states, “My wife is threatening to take the kids and leave me. She accused me of being unfaithful because she caught me watching porn on the computer. I do watch porn on occasion, but its not like I’m addicted to it or like I slept with another woman. I’m not proud of the habit, but I can’t see any real harm doing it. Besides, my wife shouldn’t be surprised. She hasn’t shown any interest in sex since the birth of our son last year and I have needs. To be honest, I am not really interested in having sex with her, either. She doesn’t turn me on like she used to, you know? I can’t get aroused with her like I do watching porn. She changed after our son was born. Even when we do have sex, it feels like she is just going along with it.” From the intake process, you learn some general background information related to James and his family. You learn that James and his wife have been married for 4 years. They have 2 children, a daughter, age 3, and a son, age 1. James states he has been unable to gain and/or maintain an erection for about a year and a half, except when he is alone watching pornography. His wife and he have had a limited sexual relationship since the birth of their son. James, who has gained over 50 pounds in the past 2 years, is a former professional minor-league baseball player who never made it to the majors. He retired from baseball 2 years ago and moved to his hometown, where he is well-known and liked in the community, to start his business. James’s business is successful, but requires him to work long hours and sometimes travel out of town.   James is an adult child of an alcoholic father. He was an only child, and his parents are still married. His mother was a stay-at-home mom until he graduated high school and went to college on his baseball scholarship. She then returned to school and earned 2 degrees, a bachelors and a masters in Social Work, and now has a private practice. His father was a highly successful businessman, but is currently retired. His parents moved to an out-of-state retirement community to be near the ocean. Growing up, James was very close to his mother, but recalls his father being distant and uninterested in his life achievements. James remembers his father being absent from home most of the time due to work obligations. When his father was home, James states, “He would sit in front of the TV watching sports and drinking scotch. He was completely oblivious to my presence.” James states that his mother engages regularly with her grandchildren via FaceTime and Facebook, while his father continues the pattern of being disconnected from the family.

[ORDER SOLUTION] Social Control Theory

INTRODUCTION: The purpose of the final exam is to allow you to not only obtain information and knowledge about major theoretical approaches to understanding the causes of crime, but also transition you into thinking about what you do with this knowledge. You will write a (7-10 pages double-spaced) persuasive/argumentative essay. A persuasive/argumentative essay uses reason to show that one idea is more legitimate than another idea. It attempts to persuade a reader to adopt a certain point of view or to take a particular action. This type of essay must present evidence, facts, empirical data, statistics, theories, or examples, in order to defend one’s claims. You are required to use information you have gathered from your readings over the course of the semester. Outside research is welcomed, but you will be graded on how well you summarize, integrate, and utilize information from the required readings from this course.ESSAY QUESTION: You have just been named United States Secretary of Homeland Security. [ORDER SOLUTION] Ethical Responsibility

English 101 prompt for Essay # 4Please write a five-paragraph essay using the studied essays in this section as your support. The overall topic is IDENTITY and HERITAGE. What can also be addressed here is gender and class. We are looking at what these authors know of their history and how that defines them.Things to considers for your introductionWhat is identity? Is identity understood early in life or is it a life-long process to a conclusion? What is society’s role in creating identity? Because of America’s history, how can historically oppressed persons reconcile/realize/re-invent their identity? How important is it that we as Americans understand American history as it really happened? No matter where our people came from, there is still burden and complication coming to a new land. In general, immigrants come to America to seek refuge or asylum, or at least find a better life and create a better life for their children.Things to consider for your conclusion:How has the “establishment” kept people (who are not white men) in their places? Have things changed at all in the last 50 years in that regard? 20 years? 3 years? How so? Whose voices are heard? Whose voices should be heard? Why and How?What ethical responsibility do we have to each other? Our family? Our environment? Are we a depraved society that allows failure in this regard?GROUND RULES: Do not use the titles of essays you’ve read or the authors in your thesis or topic sentences. You must focus on an abstract idea that you analyze, and then use what you have read from the essay book to support your interpretation and explanation of said conceptual idea. Think in THREES, I always say, because you have three body paragraphs that need focus and power. Each body paragraph should cover some aspect of the conceptual idea. Your paper should be around 750+ words or about three or four pages. You should make use of quotes (at least four) and use MLA formatting.HELPFUL HINTS: Consider journalistic questions as you configure your plan, as well as the rhetorical modes cause and effect and definition. Professional writers you are reading often consider reasons why things occur or consequences of behavior or actions. They also consider redefining an issue or concept in their own terms to help all of us make sense of their way of looking at the concept and their expression about it.There are plenty of essays within the textbook for you to make use of. Please do not use outside sources. If you are not clear about how to use them and/or how to reference them both within your paper and on the Works Cited page, refer back to MLA formatting and the pages added from the book on this site. I am hoping by now all of you have the books. After reading and contemplating the essays assigned and other essays under the themed subtitle Race and Culture, reread the prompt to begin the development of a thoughtful directed essay of your own.
