Congenital Heart Disease
You may want to write about the genetic mutations and the genes associated with the mutation (chromosomal aneuploidy). Your report for either the experiment or straight research paper may include pages and sections such as: title, abstract, introduction, background information on the disease, multiple experimental results, discussions/conclusions of results and also to pull the paper together. Include a biological explanation of the genotypic (ex. lysine substitute) and phenotypic details of the mutation, (if your gene results in an improperly folded protein discuss this malformation, what does it look like? Where and how is it improperly folded and what role does it play in the resultant disease) and a discussion of the current research involving your mutation and any future studies you can propose to further the research in this field. Please make it as informative as you can. Please discuss the pathogenesis of the diseases, prevalence and occurrence rates in other congenital diseases, such as in trisomy 21, as well as Turner syndrome.
