Section A: “Conspiracy Film” Link to Video : https://dcccd.yuja.com/V/Video?v=280473&node=1330210&a=1535529994&autoplay=1 Please watch this edited version of the film “Conspiracy,” which reenacts the Wannsee Conference of 1942 to discuss the Final Solution. *Note: The edited version begins with the last man to show up at the meeting and there is a section in the middle of the film I edited out for the sake of time. The men go back and forth on existing policies before they get to the real intention of the conference. Consider these questions in your response: How is power established at this meeting? (Keep in mind all of these men are heads of their departments and wield a tremendous amount of power in the Third Reich). Who do you think is ultimately in charge and how does that person keep his power? Also, what tactics do you see that are used to persuade the group to accept the plans for the Final Solution? Any other thoughts or reactions? (Also, pay attention to the end credits to see how long some of the men lived). Section B: Please watch this Tedtalk on Chris Abani: Link to video : https://www.ted.com/talks/chris_abani_on_humanity?utm_campaign=tedspread&utm_medium=referral&utm_source=tedcomshare Consider these questions in your response: Chris Abani discusses the idea of “ubuntu” in his Ted Talk. What does he argue about this concept? What is he really trying to tell us? What remarkable people have you learned about in Unit 03? Are they reflecting humanity back at you? Or are they instead a reminder of why we need to reclaim humanity? How does Abanis concepts relate to US history? Here is more Chris Abanis Bio: http://www.ted.com/speakers/chris_abani.html Section C: What examples of Ubuntu have you seen demonstrated by others in this recent pandemic or current events? Do a little research and share a story, news item, or even a personal example you have witnessed that reflects this concept.
