Crimes Of The Heart
Tiffany is concerned about her infant baby.
Caleb has been refusing to eat since she brought him home from the hospital, and he appears to be breathing too hard all of the time.
She quit breastfeeding and tried every bottle and formula available, but nothing worked.
So, as they set Caleb on the scale at his one-month check-up, her stomach is in knots.
9 pounds, 7 ounces, the nurse adds.
Tiffaney bursts into tears when she finds Caleb has barely gained one pound since birth.

Dr. Baker examines Caleb in the exam room, taking special care to feel and listen to his chest.
Tiffaney describes her difficulties with getting her son to eat and how he tears virtually the entire day throughout the exam.
When I listen to Calebs heart, I notice an extra sound called a murmur, Dr. Baker explains after the test.
Id like to use an echocardiography and an ECG to acquire a good view of all of his hearts components.
Tiffaney visits with Dr. Baker in his office after a full day of exams.
After carefully reviewing all of the evidence, I have discovered that Caleb has a hole in the heart muscle wall between his right and left ventricles, he says.
Its known as a ventricular septal defect.
Thats presumably why hes been irritable and difficult to feed.
The hole isnt particularly large, but hell still require surgery to patch it.
Tiffaney is pleased to hear why things have been so difficult at home, despite the fact that the notion of her tiny kid undergoing surgery is horrifying.
