Cultural Bond Syndrome

A write up on a culture-bound syndrome. Remember, you should be acknowledging how this disease/illness/infirmity/impairment cannot be fully understood unless you look at the societal factors associated with it. Please be specific in discussing the societal factors/influences.  For example, you could state that anorexia is a Culture Bound Syndrome in the U.S.  Anorexia is basically starvation, but as opposed to starvation in other cultures due to lack of availability of food, it is a CBS in the US because individuals *choose* to starve themselves. Basically, you could list cultural factors including the media, unrealistic beauty and body images/ideals, etc.
