Develop a Seasonal Cookbook
Develop a Seasonal Cookbook First Explain in one page How your food pantry has changed since the beginning of the semester. Please write your answers using complete sentences and proper grammar. Are there different foods; more of some items and less of others, be specific? (My answer: I ate more vegetables, fruit and fish, reduced the amount of meat and processed foods) Have your grocery store shopping choices changed during the semester; are you shopping at different stores (farmers markets, sustainable growers, organics farms) instead of the big box grocery stores (Safeway, Albertsons, Costco)? (My answer: I still shopped at Costco since they have a reasonable price. I sometimes visited the farmer markets at weekend) Would eating produce seasonally be considered a more sustainable way of eating? Why or why not? Be specific and detailed in your answer. Second Develop a seasonal cookbook (write in bullet points). Go to: seasonalfoodguide.org Choose California For each of the 12 months of the year (January December) You can choose early or late in the month. Choose a minimum of seven (7) produce items from the available options (list the produce items that you choose) and then look up, or develop your own, a minimum of one recipe (breakfast, lunch, and dinner, or different meals or dishes) for each month. The idea is to have one healthy recipe that you can enjoy throughout the year using fresh food that is seasonally available. You CANNOT use any produce item in a recipe for a certain month that is not in season during that month (see the format in the attached file). If you use a recipe from an online source or cookbook, you MUST write the recipe in your own words and provide the reference. You must include photos of the recipes
