Turnitin is an originality checking and plagiarism prevention service that checks your writing for citation mistakes or inappropriate copying.    When you submit your paper, Turnitin compares it to text in its massive database of student work, websites, books, articles, etc.    

Turnitin is integrated into the Assignments tool in all online classrooms and is managed by Classroom Support.  This means that when you upload your paper to your classroom for grading, it will automatically be sent through Turnitin’s repository.  The Similarity Report that it generates will  help identify possible instances of . As a guide a returned percentage of below 15% would probably indicate that plagiarism has not occurred. However, if the 15% of matching text is one continuous block this could still be considered plagiarism. A high percentage would probably be anything over 25% (Yellow, orange or red).Turnitin may detect that as a match and color code it as well. … The colored square indicating the overall similarity of a paper will be one of these five basic colors: red, orange, yellow, green, or blue.
