Florence had a deep affection for God and the Bible when she was a small child.
She claims that she heard Gods voice calling her to a specific mission on February 7, 1837, while wandering in a garden (1, 2).
Florence began working at the hospital in 1844.
Her parents, on the other hand, were against it.
Nursing was not a respectable profession in mid-nineteenth-century England (3).
She volunteered in hospitals in Germany and France in July 1850. (1).

The Crimean War began in 1854 when the United Kingdom, France, and Turkey declared war on Russia.
